STRO-WARE LAUNCHES CLIPSQL, Version 3 for SQL SERVER/SYBASE

(LOS ANGELES, Calif) -- STRO-WARE Inc, the distributor of Aladdin
Publishing's range of Clipper add-on products, has just released the
latest version of ClipSQL for SQL Server/Sybase.

ClipsQL Version 3 now offers cursor control and includes an RDD interface.
In addition, it is compatible with Sybase 1.1 and 4.2, supports Clipper
5.01 and 5.2, and is still compatible with previous versions of ClipSQL.

ClipSQL for SQL Server/Sybase is part of Aladdin Publishing's range of
Clipper interfaces which allow software developers to write applications
in CA-Clipper version's 5.x that will access SQL database engines.

Clipper programmers who want to migrate their applications into a
Client/Server environment are able to access the powerful SQL engines like
SQL Server with their existing Clipper programming skills without having
to learn another programming language.

"ClipSQL offers Clipper programmers the best of both worlds by providing
the link between the flexibility of CA-Clipper and the power and speed of
SQL engines." Neil Stromin, president, Stro-Ware, said.

ClipSQL for SQL Server/Sybase is the first Client/Server interface for SQL
Server to use RDD technology. To ensure the best performance and
flexibility, three separate approaches are used in the interface:

API Approach -- Various functions in the library allow the programmer to
issue and manipulate the results of SQL statements. SELECT statements can
be manipulated simultaneously, and scrolling forward and backward through
result sets is possible. There is also the facility to use PREPARE
statements and parameterised statements.

Embedded SQL Approach -- This approach can be wed with the API approach so
the programmer can use SQL statements as part of the Clipper syntax. This
makes the syntax conform as close as possible to the ANSI standards for
embedding SQL commands in the host languages (e.g, C, COBOL, ADA).

RDD Approach -- This uses work areas in the interface enabling rows and
columns to be easily accessed in a way familiar to the programmer. Using
Clipper's powerful Database Manipulation Language (DML), this interface
allows a SQL table to be used as if it were a DBF, providing easy
conversions for those programmers unfamiliar with SQL.

"In essence a whole new market for Clipper programmers is opening up,"
Keith Levenstein, chairman, Aladdin Publishing, said. "There are many
thousands of competent Clipper programmers who can use their programming
skills to develop sophisticated programs in the Client/Server environment,
and with the SQL engines providing the record handling, a level of data
integrity is ensured that was not previously possible with the underlying
DBF database structure."

ClipSQL for SQL Server/Sybase also includes: a DBF to SQL translator and
SQL table to DBF translator; Interactive SQL; a Query by Example utility;
and a database utility for SQL to manipulate SQL databases and tables, all
written in CA-Clipper.

ClipSQL Version 3 for SQL Server/Sybase lists for $495.00, and is available
to existing ClipSQL registered users as an upgrade for $249.00. All
applications developed with ClipSQL are 100% royalty free.

Aladdin Software's range of Clipper add-ons include ClipSQL for Informix,
Oracle, and Gupta, UnClip, a decompiler for CA-Clipper Summer '87; RDD
kit, a set of six replaceable database drivers, and DynMan, a Dynamic Link
library.
