FutureVideo Launches New Editlink 2200 Series PC-Based Videotape Edit
Controller Cards

ALISO VIEJO, CALIFORNIA, USA, 15th October 1993--FutureVideo brings
affordable videotape editing to PC owners via its new EditLink 2200 series
edit controllers. Developed as 8-bit PC bus plug-in cards, the devices are
capable of precisely controlling 2 VTRs on IBM PC/386/486 (or compatible)
personal computers.

EditLink 2200 series controllers are capable of performing
professional-grade Assemble, A/V Insert, Video Insert, and Audio Insert
edits. Designed to support low-end industrial and consumer-grade
VCRs/Camcorders, EditLink 2200 cards are compatible with over 100 models
from Panasonic, Sony, JVC, Canon, Ricoh, Yashica, Nikon, and
others-irrespective of tape format. Special Order versions are also
available which support selected RS-232C and Sony VISCA (Sony V-Box not
required) VTR protocols.

All three edit controller models--including the entry-level EditLink 2200
($695)--are fitted with a GPI trigger and are compatible with both Sony's
Industrial 8mm Time Code (typically +/-1 frame accuracy) and Sony's
consumer Hi8 RC Time Code (typically 2-3 frame accuracy).

EditLink 2200/TC ($1195) also reads longitudinal SMPTE Time Code (EBU in
PAL systems) from both Source and Record VTRs, resulting in accuracy of
typically +/-1 frame with selected VTRs. The top-of-the-range 2200/TCG
model ($1395) reads and writes SMPTE/EBU Time Code.

EditLink 2200 series controller cards require application software to form
a complete system. FutureVideo's EDL-2000/FX Edit List Manager software is
able to create 999 event edit decision lists (EDLs)--plus control the
EditLink 2200's VTR transport and editing functions. Third Party software,
including Matrox's Personal Producer, may also be used with EditLink
2200/TC.

According to Stephen Godfrey, FutureVideo's Vice President, "PC users have
been left to wonder how they might control their VCRs and camcorders
through their computer system. Our new EditLink 2200 series controllers
and Edit ListManager series software make this possible for the first
time. " Mr Godfrey continued, "Commercial third party software developers
will likewise appreciate the ease of adding VTR control to their
multi-media software via an EditLink 2200. We welcome them to join our
Registered Developer Program. "

FutureVideo has been a pioneer in the world of desktop video editing and
computer/VTR control technology, since 1986.
