FUJITSU CANADA STANDARDIZES ON 21 MB FLOPTICAL TECHNOLOGY FOR SUBSYSTEMS

Subsystems Incorporate 21MB Floptical Disk Drives and Media for DOS Systems
and workstations as well as Apple Macintosh Systems and PowerBooks

Cupertino, CA -- November 15, 1993 -- The Floptical Technology Association
(FTA) today announced that Fujitsu Canada, based in Mississauga, Ontario,
has chosen 21 megabyte (MB) Floptical technology as the standard very high
capacity floppy disk drive for a line of subsystem products.

The subsystems are available now in both internal and external DOS PC
configurations, DOS notebooks and workstations, as well as external units
for Apple Macintosh systems and Apple PowerBooks. The drives and 21MB
media are being supplied by Iomega Corp., a founding member of the FTA.

Fujitsu Canada is a full-line supplier of opto-magnetic computer
peripherals, including Floptical disk drives and media, CD ROM products,
8- and 16-bit interface products, as well as Corel SCSI software drivers
for Floptical drives. Corel Draw! is also available bundled with some
Floptical subsystems.

Fujitsu Canada will ship the Floptical subsystems to distributors and
resellers throughout Canada using their standard channels. The subsystems,
available now, have suggested list prices beginning at $579.00
(Canadian).

Rudie Nagelmakers, senior manager of business development for Fujitsu
Canada, said, "The printing pre-press market is perfect for Floptical
technology. Four-color separations typically use anywhere from 15- to 18MB
of storage capacity. Because of data quality and cost factors, using a
21MB Floptical diskette is much more desirable than using a modem or
removable hard disk."

Nagelmakers pointed out that Floptical technology, as the market standard
for very high capacity floppy diskette recording, will play an important
role in Fujitsu Canada's opto-magnetic market strategy. "21 megabytes on a
diskette will help our market grow rapidly, as conventional floppies can't
do the job, and there's no other very high capacity alternative to this
technology, which offers users so many benefits in capacity, migration
path, compatibility and performance."

Gary Larson, Iomega's director of OEM marketing, said that Floptical drives
and media also offer other graphics applications the ideal I/O medium.
"Many graphics files typically range from five to ten megabytes, and have
outstripped the ability of low-capacity floppies to handle normal I/O
functions, making 21MB necessary for such applications."

"Fujitsu Canada becomes yet another major manufacturer to standardize on
21MB Floptical technology," says FTA chairman James D. Milligan of 3M.
"The trend to using 21MB Floptical technology continues based on the clear
benefits offered by the technology. Floptical technology is achieving
worldwide acceptance by OEMs, systems integrators, and VARs/VADs, as well
as users."

The FTA has announced broad support of Floptical Technology by leading
workstation manufacturers, including Silicon Graphics, Hewlett-Packard and
Hitachi, Ltd. All have chosen 21MB Floptical technology as the standard
very high capacity floppy disk drive for lines of high-performance
workstations.
