ICOM and MDT Form Alliance

Union Supplies ICOM Software With MASS PDS Client/Server Support

Milwaukee, WI -- ICOM, Inc., the leader in innovative software for
Allen-Bradley PLCs has formed an alliance with MDT, Inc., supplier of MASS
and ProDoc Programmable software. The two companies have agreed to
exchange technical information that will allow ICOM's A.I. (Advanced
Interface) Series programming software to seamlessly interface with MDT's
network-based MASS ProDoc Programmable Device Support (PDS) and MASS
server as clients.

The combined offerings from ICOM and MDT, leaders in PLC support software,
provide a more complete solution than currently marketed individually or
by other vendors.

ICOM's A.I. Series offers many programming and documentation capabilities,
including: automatic Symbolic address programming, which integrates
documentation text with programming functions, custom screen displays,
timing charts, and a full security system. As a result of ICOM's new
alliance with MDT, A.I. Series' users can also benefit from MASS features
such as: security and user access control, program version control and
library management, time-scheduled program uploads and compares, audit
trails and revision history.

With the MASS Client/Server option, a user selects a program via the ICOM
client. A directory services request is automatically forwarded to the
MASS server. MASS verifies the user's privileges and sends the appropriate
logic and/or database information and processor ID to the client and logs
all user activities. The program changes are checked back into the MASS
library and when the user logs off the ICOM software, the MASS server
automatically uploads the program, compares it to the MASS version and
E-mails designated users of any changes made.

ICOM's DOS-based A.I. Series will be offering the UNIX-based MASS
Client/Server support in 1994.
