Expert Software's Macintosh Design Series Receives Straight A's In
University Classroom

CORAL GABLES, FLORIDA (October 20, 1993) - Expert Software, Inc's., popular
Macintosh Design Series (Expert Home, Landscape, and Office Design), are
not only practical programs for design and layout, but also for
education.

"I selected Expert Home, Landscape, and Office Design to use in my
classroom for several reasons," said Dr. Hill, a professor at the
University of North Carolina at Wilmington. "The quality is excellent, all
around. From software to documentation, I would not hesitate to call it
exceptional at a true value."

Hill was also impressed with the price of the programs. "The price was
right (Suggest Retail Price of each is $49.95)," said Hill, who teaches
Park Planning and Design. "Realistically, university budgets across the
nation are becoming tighter, and ours (University of North Carolina at
Wilmington) is no exception."

From students to department chairs, Expert's Design series gets rave
reviews. "Expert Home, Landscape, and Office Design have allowed our
students to move from a 'casual computer user' to a 'creative computer
user," said Dr. Sue Combs, who holds a chair on the Department of Health,
Physical Education, and Recreation. "Putting theory into practice will
always be a challenge for higher education and the Expert Design Series
has moved us one step closer."

"This (Expert Design Series) will help to give the students some real world
skills," said Lorraine Lasnier, student at North Carolina at Wilmington.
Fellow student, Brad Anderson adds, "Everything seems to be moving to
computers. I was glad to see us make this step."

With Expert's Design series, Hill has been able to offer his students
on-the-job training they would not normally receive without the use of a
computer software program. In the past, Hill's student were drawing park
designs by hand, but in the real world engineers use sophisticated CAD
programs.

Hill believes Expert's Design Series offers the power of a CAD program with
the ease of use of a draw program. "The user interface is extremely
intuitive, yet powerful," said Hill. "This is critical, as most of the
students in this course are limited in computer skills. The learning curve
on CAD programs would be too steep for our students compared to Expert's
Design Series."

Hill has been able to utilize the Design Series as if it were a simulation
program for his class. He has planned his class schedule around the
programs. Students are required to outline a fictitious park from scratch
by using Expert Landscape and Office Design. Students incorporate the
programs extensive library objects such as offices, trees, shrubs, fences
and much more.

If there are additional library objects not offered in any of the Design
Series programs, Hill has his students incorporate clip art such as
baseball diamonds or ropes courses into the program. In the future, Hill
plans to purchase Power Books, visit parks, and perform on-site design
with his students.

"Perhaps the most important factor in deciding to use the Design Series is
that the programs allow students to focus on designing parks and
recreational facilities from a conceptual perspective, rather than a
technical one. Expert Home Design, Landscape, and Office Design are head
and shoulders above the rest in this application," Hill concluded.
