FLOPTICAL TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCES PROCLEAN FLOPTICAL DRIVE CLEANING KIT

Model PCF2 Embossed Woven Nylon Cleaning Diskette Ideal for High Speed
Floptical Drives, Approved By FTA Drive, Media Manufacturers

Cupertino, CA -- November 15, 1993 -- The Floptical Technology Association
(FTA) today announced the availability of the Model PCF2 Floptical Drive
Cleaning Kit manufactured by Proclean, Bothell, Washington. The highly
durable, embossed woven nylon PCF2 cleaning diskette is specifically
designed to remove oxides, airborne dust and environmental contaminants
from high speed Floptical drives and is the only cleaning diskette
endorsed by the Floptical Technology Association and approved by leading
drive and media manufacturers.

Floptical drives rotate at 720 RPM, which is twice the speed of high
density drives. At this speed, the drives need a cleaning disk with a
stronger fiber.

Dennis Anderson, vice president of Proclean, said, "Proclean's PCF2
Floptical Drive Cleaning Diskette is made of a durable woven nylon which
will not shed and is far more absorbent than polyester. In addition, the
PCF2 diskette is embossed with raised ridges for a 'washboard' effect. The
channels between the ridges create a vacuum which helps dislodge
contaminants for a more thorough cleaning."

The environmentally safe PCF2 Floptical Drive Cleaning Kit can be used up
to 20 times and is packaged in a special sleeve printed with a Floptical
disk drive maintenance log. The product is available immediately in retail
distribution outlets for a suggested list price of $12.95

FTA chairman Jim Milligan said, "The Floptical Technology Association is
committed to ensuring Floptical drive users have a good selection of
superior products specifically developed for this technology.

The Proclean PCF2 Floptical Drive Cleaning Kit is the latest in the line of
Floptical accessories, ranging from 21MB diskettes to parallel port
connection hardware to host adapters and subsystems. for PCs, Macs,
PowerBooks and Amiga Systems. In addition, the PCF2 is an excellent way
for VARs and OEMs to add value to the Floptical systems they market."

Floptical Technology continues to set the trend with respect to very high
capacity floppy diskette storage as the de facto industry standard. Recent
announcements include a new portable, battery-powered 21-megabyte 3.5-inch
PowerBook Floptical Drive for Apple Macintosh PowerBook and PowerBook Duo
Systems manufactured by Iomega Corp., Roy, Utah, and broad support of
Floptical Technology by leading workstation manufacturers including
Silicon Graphics, Hewlett-Packard and Hitachi, Ltd. In addition, Fujitsu
Canada, based in Mississauga, Ontario, has recently chosen Floptical
Technology as the standard very high capacity floppy disk drive for a line
of subsystem products.

FLOPTICAL TECHNOLOGY ASSOCIATION BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Founded in 1991, the FTA is a non-profit mutual benefit association formed
to promote 21-megabyte (MB) Floptical technology as the de facto industry
standard for very high-capacity floppy disk drives. FTA membership now
includes over two dozen vendors, manufacturing partners and licensees of
Floptical technology. since the FTA's founding, members have achieved
volume drive and media production, as well as technical superiority,
product availability, cost-effectiveness, major OEM agreements, and most
of all, satisfaction of end-user demand.

FTA members include drive manufacturers Insite Peripherals and Iomega
Corp.; media manufacturers 3M, Hitachi-Maxell and Iomega; Insite's drive
manufacturing partner MKE and Iomega's drive manufacturing partner,
Chinon; subsystem manufacturer O.R. Computer System PTE. Ltd.; host
adapter companies Adaptec and Rancho Techonology; and over a dozen other
members providing a range of supporting Floptical products.

The 21MB Floptical technology is the new standard for high-capacity
flexible disk drive storage as it is seen as a superior solution for low
cost removable high-capacity data storage needs for workstation and
microcomputer users.

The 3.5-inch Floptical disk drive features 21MB of formatted capacity (25MB
unformatted), one inch-high form factor and single +5 volt power
requirements. The Floptical disk drive uses standard 3.5-inch diskettes
and variable mode dual heads which make it the first and only very high
capacity 3.5-inch flexible drive able to read and write standard lower
capacity 720KB and 1.44MB 3.5-inch diskettes. The Floptical drive's very
high capacity is achieved by combining patented optical servo track
positioning and magnetic recording technologies. Products based on
Floptical technology include disk drives, media, host adapter and
subsystem products for IBM, Apple Macintosh and Amiga systems.
