P-TOUCH PC DEBUTS CUSTOM LABELING FROM YOUR COMPUTER!

Las Vegas, NV, November 15, 1993 -- It's called the P-Touch PC and if the
success of Brother's existing P-Touch line of electronic labeling systems
is any indication, this product is going to become one very hot item with
computer users.

This newest product is an innovative, dedicated label printer that can be
used with both Macintosh and IBM-PC compatibles. It enables users to print
virtually any image from their computer screen onto laminated, adhesive
labels. The device offers high-quality thermal transfer printing and a
bitmap graphics import feature.

"P-Touch PC opens an entire new world of application possibilities for
computer users in just about every profession, from pharmacists to hotel
facilities managers to warehouse staff," says Dean F. Shulman, Senior Vice
President, Business Machine Group of Brother International Corporation.

Practically any combination of on-screen fonts, original graphics, bar
codes and even company logos can be printed quickly and easily onto
P-Touch laminated adhesive labels. The accompanying software includes
several custom fonts and supports both ATM and TrueType fonts. Over 250
special scalable symbols are provided. Bar codes can also be generated.

"In today's competitive world, appearance is of vital importance,
professionals demand methods of improving the looks of their presentations
and materials," adds Shulman.

Whether it's archiving binders, retail signage, name badges, personal
items, etc., P-Touch PC delivers high quality, superior looking labels
with ease and convenience right from your computer keyboard.

The laminated adhesive tapes are available in over 40 color/width
combinations. The one piece tape cassettes come in 5 sizes, from 1/4 inch
to 1 inch wide, and offer quick and easy "pop in - pop out changing.

Thanks to its database handling capabilities and available non-laminated
tape, the P-Touch PC may also be used to easily and economically print
mailing labels. Runs of serial number identification tags can be generated
using its sequential numbering feature. The P-Touch PC even offers the
option of automatically printing the date and time on each label and has a
built-in auto tape cutter.

This latest addition into the thriving family of Brother P-Touch electronic
label makers is also extremely user-friendly. Unlike most other computer
peripherals, it does not come with a 400 page manual, nor does it require
an MIS supervisor to operate it.

"Like many of our products which cater to the SoHo (Small Office Home
Office) market, we designed the P-Touch PC to be a technological
breakthrough that's also easy to use--which in this business is a
breakthrough in itself" said Shulman.

This new peripheral is compatible with Macintosh and IBM PC/AT, PS/2 or
compatibles...right out of the box!

Its ICON based Windows (version 3.1) and Macintosh (system 6.0.7 or newer)
application software is designed specifically for this product so that
integrating images, text and database information is easily accomplished.
The P-Touch PC also comes with a powerful printer driver that lets users
print labels from other software packages. In keeping with Brother's "all
included" philosophy, the P-Touch PC includes a fifty foot tape cassette,
serial cables for both IBM compatible and Macintosh environments, and a
simple to follow user manual. Custom fonts, special scalable symbols and
pre-made label templates complete the package.

Despite the product's wealth of features, Brother, in keeping with their
philosophy of making versatility and quality affordable, has priced the
P-Touch PC very reasonably.

By continually offering their unique combination of products targeted at
home office/small office workers, Brother has emerged as "The Ultimate
Home Office Company." Brother expects this product to have wide appeal
well beyond its loyal base of home office customers. "It's difficult to
imagine any computer user in a commercial or industrial situation who
would not benefit by the addition of a Brother P-Touch PC to their system"
Shulman says. The P-Touch PC will be available in the 1st quarter of
1994.
