NEW DIGITAL I/O BOARD FROM SPECTRUM SIGNAL AIMED AT THE GENERAL PURPOSE
CONTROL MARKET

Burnaby, B.C., November 5, 1993 - A new 32 Channel Digital I/O Board from
Spectrum Signal Processing permits SPECTRUM's full range of DSP boards to
be used in the rapidly expanding control market.

The new digital I/O board has been developed for general purpose control,
including factory floor and assembly applications. When combined with
other SPECTRUM boards, it allows users to structure systems that use DSP
to inform outboard controllers or to generate alarms to central control
panels. The 32 Channel board, which communicates to SPECTRUM's DSP boards
using the company's DSP LINK interface, can be connected to higher power
and specialized industrial equipment. It is directly compatible with
Arcom's growing range of interface products, including a bridge to the
widely used Opto22 modular system.

All 32 channels are arranged as four, 8-bit ports and provides sample rates
ranging from 150 Hz to 200 kHz. All 32 lines are TTL compatible with
hysteresis, presenting a standard interface to the real world. Each port
can be programmed individually to be an input or output, and a data strobe
signal allows transfer of parallel data to or from other digital
equipment.

"Our new DSP LINK digital I/O board offers a significant number of I/O
channels; an important feature for the application of DSP to factory floor
data collection and similar control environments," said Ross Mitchell,
SPECTRUM's Business Development Manager. "It is ideal for applications
that need more than 32 synchronized I/O lines."

The new 32 Channel Digital I/O Board is available now from SPECTRUM for US
$1,045 in single quantities. Significant discounts are available for OEMs
purchasing in volume.

Spectrum Signal Processing is the leading developer of system and processor
boards, software tools, hardware systems and other digital signal

unique modular DSP hardware allows users to interface off-the-shelf
peripheral I/O boards with the processor of their choice. Spectrum Signal
