Supra Announces PCMCIA Faxmodem

ALBANY, OR, NOVEMBER, 1993--The SupraCOMcard 144 packs the full power of
14,400 bps fax and data communication as well as Supra's reputation for
price/performance value onto a PCMCIA card. Estimated selling price is
$349.95.

"With increasing demand for PCMCIA support on laptop computers and the
expected announcement of PCMCIA support on desktop computers, customers
are demanding quality PCMCIA faxmodems at an affordable price," said John
Wiley, President of Supra.

Two outstanding benefits of the SupraCOMcard 144 are its internal DAA which
eliminates the need for a bulky external dongle and the use of flash ROM
which enables users to "field upgrade" the faxmodem when product
enhancements are made.

The SupraCOMcard 144 offers a complete solution to high-speed communication
that includes software for use in both DOS and Windows. COMit provides
full-featured data communications capabilities and FaxTalk allows for
easy, yet powerful, transmission and receipt of fax messages. The popular
CompuServe Information Manager for Windows is also included along with an
introductory offer to the CompuServe information service.

Superior Performance

The SupraCOMcard 144 builds on the technology that has earned Supra a
reputation for superior price-performance in the high-speed modem market
place. The technology allows both fax and data transmission at speeds up
to 14,400 bps. Data compression protocols can result in actual throughput
of up to 57,600 bps.

The SupraCOMcard 144 has been tested with many of the major laptop
computers and is fully compatible with those systems. The PCMCIA 2.01 card
is designed for use in Type II and Type III PCMCIA slots. Based on the new
Rockwell 144ACL chip set, the SupraCOMcard 144 is designed for minimal
demands on the battery power supply.

The faxmodem supports industry-standard protocols including the full range
of Bell and ITU-TSS standards (i.e. V.32bis and V.32); MNP 2-4 and V.42
error correction; MNP 5 and V.42bis data compression; MNP 10 for improved
performance on noisy lines; V.17, V.29, and V.27ter fax protocols; Class 1
and 2 fax software compatibility; and Group 3 fax compatibility.

The modem features a five-year warranty, Hayes compatibility, extended AT
commands, asynchronous operation, a mode that supports connection to
synchronous modems, compatibility with most telecommunications software,
autoanswer/autodial, and nonvolatile memory that stores two user
configurations and four phone numbers.
