AUDIOFILE SETS NEW STANDARD IN VOICE MESSAGING EASE OF USE

Lexington, MA, (November 5, 1993) -- AudioFile announces version 2.0 of its
TalkWorks voice annotation software that makes adding voice messages to
Windows applications "one-click" easy. Unlike competitive products,
TalkWorks is able to reside in the Windows tool bar so users don't have to
exit the application to add recorded messages to reports, E-Mail or other
documents.

"TalkWorks makes voice messaging useful by making it simple," stated Tom
Erickson, vice-president of AudioFile sales and marketing. "Previously,
you had to exit your application, enter an audio recorder, then drag the
sound icon back into the application. With TalkWorks 2.0 you just click on
the record icon in the tool bar and talk."

TalkWorks 2.0 is also the first voice annotation system to support high
performance digital signal processor (DSP) for real-time processing of
voice compression and modification. Initially, AudioFile provides 10-to-l
compression and supports the Analog Devices ADSP-2115 DSP, standard on
Cardinal and Echo audio boards. AudioFile will provide support for up to
36: 1 compression running on various DSPs in the near future.

"Unlike most voice annotation systems, TalkWorks allows messages of any
length to be recorded," said Dr. Richard Goldhor, AudioFile's' chief
technical officer. "High compression ratios help assure that networks and
modems will be able to handle the file." TalkWorks 2.0 requires a 386 or
faster PC and according to Goldhor, "The product's unique scalable
architecture keeps the interface constant as users improve performance
with either CPU or sound board upgrades."

TalkWorks 2.0 includes AudioRecorder, an OLE server that enables recording,
embedding, and playing of audio in all compliant Microsoft Windows
applications. Also new with version 2.0 are AudioEditor and AudioMixer
modules. AudioEditor provides record and playback editing of both
compressed and uncompressed digital audio files. Users can also cut and
paste between messages with different compression types. AudioMixer allows
users to combine various sound sources including wave and MIDI files,
microphones, and CD players.

In conjunction with TalkWorks 2.0, AudioFile has unveiled an aggressive new
pricing strategy. "Having made voice messaging truly practical," said
Erickson, "we intend to put it within reach of every cost-conscious OEM
and system vendor looking to add business audio for the first time."
