ENSONIQ Introduces TS-12 Performance/Composition Synthesizer

MALVERN, PA, November 3, 1993--ENSONIQ's latest addition to its family of
synthesizer workstations, the TS-12 Performance/Composition Synthesizer,
integrates all the capabilities of the TS-10 synthesizer with the 76-key
keyboard of the KS-32 Weighted Action MIDI Studio. The TS-12 also premiers
three new ENSONIQ features--SoundFinder which allows the user to quickly
find specific types of sounds by musical categories; Auto-Load which
automatically restores sample memory each time the TS-12 is powered-on;
and TempoTrack, a sequencing feature which allows variable tempo changes
after recording.

A weighted action keyboard with velocity and channel pressure and a 76-key
range gives the TS-12 the same feel and dynamic response of an acoustic
piano. The keyboard action was refined by working with musicians to
develop 12 velocity curves that cover a broad range of playing styles.
Designed to be powerful yet easy to use, the TS-12 also has the same
advanced sound, sequencing, and performance control capabilities found in
its sister instrument, the TS-10.

With 300 Sound Programs (1,200 including Patch Select variations) and 300
Performance Presets, the TS-12 offers sounds ranging from acoustic pop and
orchestral instruments, to exotic world music and keyboard synth textures,
to dance/rap groove sounds and drum kits. ENSONIQ's exclusive SoundFinder
allows the musician to search for these sounds by musical categories to
locate any type of sound quickly and easily.

The range of sounds on the TS-12 can be expanded even further with the
ability to load and edit up to 20 sampled sound disks from the ENSONIQ
family of ASR/EPS samplers, with up to 8 megabytes of RAM. The new
Auto-Load feature automatically reloads sounds that were last in memory or
are needed for a specific song. An optional SCSI interface (SP-4) loads
sampled sounds from CD-ROM and other SCSI drives.

The sequencer can hold up to 60 sequences/songs in memory, with a 30,000
note memory, expandable to 97,000 notes. Other sequencing features include
non-destructive editing, range editing, step-entry and multi-track
recording, swing, percentage, and random quantization options.

Performance capabilities of the TS-12 include complete control over both
internal and external MIDI sound sources, allowing the musician to map out
sounds in advance of a live performance. Convenient controls allow splits,
layers, and special combination settings to be made quickly, taking
advantage of the TS-12's 76-key range. MIDI master control features
provide 24-zone capability with separate key zone, velocity split, volume,
panning, transpose, detune, controller enables, MIDI channel, MIDI bank
select and program changes, MIDI status, pressure type, and more per
zone.

Other features of the TS-12 include: 73 dynamic 24-bits effects algorithms
derived from ENSONIQ's DP/4 Parallel Effects Processor with 692
preprogrammed variations; HyperWave voice architecture for selecting wave
sequencing style synthesis; 6 Megabyte waveform ROM with 254 16-bit
multisampled waveforms including ENSONIQ's exclusive TransWaves for
dynamic timbral change from a single wave form; Patch Select buttons for
instant access to four preprogrammed sound variations; high density disk
drive which can store sound and sequence data and also MIDI System
Exclusive data from external devices; four polyphonic outputs; and inputs
for two programmable dual footpedals and a control voltage pedal.
