U.S. ROBOTICS ANNOUNCES FAX SERVERS

Shared Access Network Fax Products Provide Integrated Solution

SKOKIE, Ill., -- November 15, 1993 -- U.S. Robotics today announced the
addition of two fax servers to its Shared Access line of network
communications products. The Shared Access Fax Servers, available for both
Ethernet and Token Ring networks, are send-and-receive fax solutions
including all necessary hardware and software. Both products will ship in
the first calendar quarter.

"Network fax products represent a new market opportunity for our Shared
Access line," said Jonathan Zakin, U. S. Robotics executive vice
president, sales and marketing. "These new products allow us to capitalize
on the growing fax server market, combining our expertise in the fax modem
arena with our experience in network communications products."

The LAN fax server market is rapidly expanding. The market will roughly
double in size from 1993 to 1994; the domestic market alone for fax server
products will reach a half-billion dollars by 1997 [Source: BIS Strategic
Decisions].

"Networked fax capability has been the most requested feature from our
Shared Access customers," added Zakin. "The products we've introduced have
all the powerful features our customers need for a complete, integrated
hardware/software solution."

The Shared Access Fax Server Ethernet and Shared Access Fax Server
Token-Ring provide send-and-receive fax capabilities for any size LAN.
They include several methods for routing of inbound faxes, as well as
complete logging and management capabilities. The Shared Access Fax
Servers are based on U.S. Robotics' proven DSP-based fax modem technology,
incorporating the ITU-T V.17 standard for fax speeds up to 14,400 bps.

U.S. Robotics' Shared Access products provide dial-in and dial-out access
for any size LAN. The Shared Access Fax Server Ethernet and Shared Access
Fax Server Token-Ring are companion products to the company's
Communication Server 386 and LAN modem, which provide dial-out data
transmission and remote LAN access via remote control and remote node. The
company has not announced pricing for the Shared Access Fax Servers;
however, they will be priced in line with U.S. Robotics' other low-cost
Shared Access products.
