CoSA Releases After Effects 2.0

Professional Version Doubles Speed, Offers New Interface and Added File
Formats

(Providence, RI, December 28, 1993) -- CoSA (The Company of Science & Art),
an Aldus subsidiary, began shipping CoSA After Effects 2.0 Professional
Version today. CoSA After Effects 2.0 is an upgrade to CoSA's digital
post-production software package for high quality compositing, motion
graphics, and special effects on the Macintosh. Speed improvements, a
comprehensive interface featuring more precise motion control, and
enhanced file format support all demonstrate CoSA's continued commitment
to sophisticated broadcast and film post-production.

"We've made software optimizations that make After Effects 2.0, on average,
at least two times faster than our previous release," reports David
Herbstman, After Effects' Project Manager. "Combined with the increased
flexibility provided by the new time layout window and professional
features like motion blur and realtime motion preview, these speed-ups
reaffirm After Effects' position as a high-end motion graphics and
compositing tool."

Acceleration

Significant acceleration has been achieved through software optimizations
within the program. The company is also at work to gain further
acceleration through a plug-in architecture. These plug-in modules will
take advantage of different hardware acceleration technologies. Some
modules are scheduled to be developed in early 1994.

Comprehensive Interface with Enhanced Motion Control

CoSA After Effects 2.0 provides an all-inclusive time view with its new
interface. This comprehensive presentation also offers more precise motion
control. For example, users can now edit visible motion paths and key
frames in the composition window. The new time layout window replaces
three windows with one, and includes time information for each layer.
Displayed in the time layout window are the location and type of each key
frame along the timeline. This window shows modifiable graphs of key frame
values and velocities, and the timeline is now zoomable and scrollable.
Users can also move, cut, copy, and paste key frames. Multiple
interpolation methods are available for each parameter, and key frames can
actually be split to contain different in/out interpolation methods. All
of these features work together to expedite fine-tuning of projects.

Increased File Format Support

CoSA After Effects 2.0 includes a new input/output architecture that allows
the program to support more file formats, including:

* Sequence of PICT
* Electronic Image IMAGE
* Photoshop 2.5 files, and Photoshop 2.5 Image/file format
  modules

Jeff Sargent of Jeff Sargent Productions in New York City explains, "2.0 is
a major upgrade. It makes the awesome power of this program much more
accessible by providing you with a wide range of new features that let you
create very complex animations quickly and easily. Not only can I render
faster with After Effects 2.0, I can work faster."

This professional version of CoSA After Effects retails for $1,995.00, and
special upgrade offers are available for a limited time. Registered users
who received CoSA After Effects 1.x bundled with SuperMac's Digital Film
can purchase After Effects 2.0 for $995.00 until March 1, and 1,295.00
thereafter. Registered users who purchased After Effects 1.x direct or
through a CoSA reseller can upgrade for $395.00 until March 1, and $595.00
thereafter.

The new release ships with 26 plug-in special effects. Eight Free Effects
are sent to first time After Effects buyers upon registration. CoSA's
first plug-in special effects package, CoSA EFFECTS PACK, vol. 1, contains
16 plug-in effects for CoSA After Effects, and is now available for After
Effects 2.0.
