Traveling Software and National Semiconductor Announce LapLink Wireless
with AirShare

First Personal Wireless Linking Solution

[ Note: This was just received with an older press kit and included for
informational purposes despite the older November 1993 release date. ]

BOTHELL, Wash., November 8, 1993 -- Traveling Software Inc. and National
Semiconductor Corp. today introduced LapLink Wireless with AirShare radio
modules, the first wireless docking solution allowing users to
automatically synchronize information between their desktop and portable
computers.

LapLink Wireless addresses an ongoing problem for portable computer
users--how to keep information on their portable and desktop computers
current. Jointly developed by Traveling Software and National
Semiconductor, LapLink Wireless is an integrated hardware and software
product that uses the latest in radio transmission technology (RF) to
automatically connect and synchronize directories between two computers.

LapLink Wireless makes linking portables to desktop PCs more convenient by
eliminating the need for cables or floppy disks. The AirShare radio
modules included with LapLink Wireless allow computers within a radius of
30 feet to easily coordinate information within an office or at home,
without setting up cumbersome connections.

For example, users who take their portables on the road or to a meeting
often create files and update their personal organizers. When they arrive
back at the office, LapLink Wireless synchronizes the information with
their desktop computer without the need to physically connect the two
machines. Users can also print documents directly from their portable to
local or network printers.

LapLink Wireless is a complete linking solution, providing two AirShare
radio modules from National Semiconductor and LapLink Remote Access from
Traveling Software. LapLink Remote Access provides remote drive and
printer sharing between two PCs in Windows or DOS. LapLink Wireless also
includes Traveling Software's new Synchro Plus software that runs in the
background in Windows and provides automatic synchronization whenever a
connection is detected.

Suggested retail price for LapLink Wireless is $299.95 (US). The product
will be available in January through resellers nationwide.

"According to a recent BIS study on the Mobile Professional market, nearly
70 percent of users want and need connectivity within an office or
campus," said Richard Siber, group director, mobile and wireless
communications at BIS Strategic Decisions. "LapLink Wireless directly
addresses this market need."

"With all the wireless solutions available, AirShare is the first product
that utilizes radio frequency for local point-to-point data
communications:' said Joel Silberman, marketing manager of National
Semiconductor Corp.'s Wireless Networking Group. "Our extensive research
shows that the number one request users have is easy and flexible
communications between their computers--exactly what we've addressed with
LapLink Wireless."

"Because LapLink Wireless is cableless and easy to use, it may inspire
previously reluctant users to migrate to portable computing platforms,
especially at this price point," said Mark Eppley, chairman and CEO of
Traveling Software Inc. "Users will also be impressed with our new Synchro
Plus Software that helps users solve the current hassles of keeping
information on their computers updated."

Designed for portability, AirShare radio modules weigh only three ounces
each and measure only 2.25 inches by 3.5 inches by 0.5 inches. The modules
can be fastened directly to the PCs for easy portability. The design is
adaptable to future computing standards, such as PCMCIA.

A switch on the AirShare units allows the user to select among radio
frequencies, assuring that a clear channel is available for
communications. Power supply options include a mouse port pass-through
connector, a battery pack that takes one 9-volt battery and an AC
adapter.

Traveling Software and National Semiconductor partnered to jointly develop
and market integrated hardware and software products as part of each of
their strategies to address the needs of the growing market for mobile
wireless computing.
