Boundary Scan Test System checks four 1149.1 targets

Los Altos, CA, USA... AIS has introduced a four port multiplexor for the
proTEST Boundary Scan Test Development System. The proTEST System is a set
of hardware and software tools for testing for IEEE std 1149.1-1990 (JTAG)
circuits, from ICs to systems. The Mux/4 multiplexor expands the hardware
capability of the proTEST System by quadrupling the number of scan chains
that are connected to the target. Many targets contain more than one
boundary scan chain. By presenting four scan ports to the target, a system
with four independent scannable targets may be tested. Similarly four
separate targets with one scan chain on each can be tested with the
Mux/4.

"Affordable Boundary Scan Testers now move into the production test arena,
with the ability to test several boards simultaneously. The tester becomes
a tool for watching the operation of boards during burn-in cycling.
Burn-in boards while exercising them with the expanded proTEST System"
announced Julian Marshall AIS president and founder.

"Boundary scan testing is inexpensive and simple to administer with the
proTEST System making it an excellent choice for incoming inspection and
quality control. Many test companies charge their customers considerably
less to test scannable targets, than for similar targets that won't scan.
Boundary scan is emerging as the only way many circuits can be tested at
all, due to high density and smaller tighter IC pin placements. AIS has
taken the leadership position in boundary scan testing. The Mux/4 is the
first step in addressing the market for 1149.1 manufacturing production
test equipment. 1149.1 test is AIS's only business", continued Mr.
Marshall.

AIS Boundary Scan Test Systems are priced in the U.S. from $7,995 to
$30,000. The Mux/4 is priced in the U.S. at $495. Delivery is 30 to 60
days depending on configuration requirements.
