FAST FORWARD VIDEO'S BANDIT RECORDS OVER 20 MINUTES OF BROADCAST QUALITY
VIDEO DIRECT TO A HARD DISK

Irvine, CA -- (January 4, 1994) -- Fast Forward Video, manufacturers of the
Digital Video Recorder BANDIT are offering their flagship product ($5995
plus storage) with several significant newly implemented features. BANDIT,
a peripheral device which works in a variety of computing environments,
originally transferred and recorded images to a 32mb RAM module allowing
20 seconds of video to be played back in real time. For animators, this
replaced the expensive and time consuming single frame recording process,
and now...

BANDIT is currently recording direct to a SCSI hard disk

** The two storage modules currently being offered come in 12 and 20 minute
capacities. (compression quality levels are user selectable, figures based
on 10:1 compression) Because the recording drive subsystem is SCSI, six
drives can be chained together to achieve over 2 hours of recording time.

** Since the recording drive subsystem is dedicated to the JPEG compression
card, the heart of the BANDIT, the data never has to pass over the
bottlenected computer bus, allowing full screen video at 60 fields per
second with as little as 5:1 compression.

Bandit's video capture and output capabilities have always been full
bandwidth due to FFV's method of handling the signal. Until now Bandit has
only been available with composite ins and outs. Fast Forward is proud to
announce the expansion to the broadcast and professional levels
because...

YUV and S-Video signals are now available

** Component video (Y/R-Y/B-Y) as well as S-video input and output are now
available. This will allow producers and editors to maximizing their image
quality and record broadcast images directly to VTRs they are using
including BETACAM SP.

Noise free Variable Speed Playback

** Editors can search or create special effects with no "lies" or "noise"
in the picture. The speed is user selectable and ranges from x1000 to
x1/1000. BANDIT provides very clean Slow Motion as well as sharp Still
Store.

Animators working on the PC platform will enjoy an additional benefit and
time savings because they can now...

Control BANDIT from within Autodesk's 3D Studio Program

** Through the efforts of the Pyros Partnership, an ADI (Autodeesk Device
Interface) is now available that will allow PC based animators to control
BANDIT from within the 3D Studio program and render images directly to
BANDIT. The whole process adds only a couple of seconds onto the rendering
of each frame.

BANDIT and the entire Outlaw family of digital video products are designed
to meet the specifications of the vast majority of the computer animation
and video editing community while remaining within the budgets of
independent studios, artists, and producers.

Founded in 1984, Fast Forward Video has served the professional video
industry with it's successful line of SMPTE and MIDI Time Code products.
The company's design philosophy has remained unchanged; to deliver
