[ Note: This was just received with an older press kit and included for
informational purposes despite the older September 1993 release date. ]

BOTHELL, Wash. -- September 7, 1993 -- Traveling Software, the leader in
portable communications, today announced CommWorks. for Windows, the first
product to provide five communications tools including remote drive and
printer access, fax, terminal emulation, file notification, and the
best-selling file transfer program LapLink V for $199.95 (introductory
suggested retail price).

"CommWorks moves Traveling Software beyond file transfer and is an example
of our ongoing commitment to remote users who need quality Windows
communications solutions," said Mark Eppley, chairman and CEO of Traveling
Software Inc. "And CommWorks provides our customers with five 'best of
breed' applications and a unique floating Windows Control Center."

CommWorks Control Center

CommWorks features a Control Center that enables users to launch any of the
five communications tools including LapLink Remote Access, TS FAX , TS
OnLine , LapLink V, or LapLink Alert. The Control Center can be configured
so that it is visible in any Windows application. The Control Center can
also be expanded to show remote drives and ports being utilized by LapLink
Remote Access as well as indicate modem connection activity and status.

CommWorks provides one installation for all five components. This Windows
setup program guides users through the installation with a few simple
questions, to automatically set up and configure their system. CommWorks
Uninstall gives users the option to remove any or all of the CommWorks
program files for any of the components and also updates any system files
that were changed when the application was originally installed.

LapLink Remote Access

LapLink Remote Access provides bi-directional access to remote files and
printers over a modem, serial or parallel cable, or infra-red link. It
gives users the option to transfer files or share them. For example, a
traveling executive may use a scheduler to manage appointments on a
computer located at the home office. With LapLink Remote Access, the
executive can dial in to the home office PC' and make changes to the
schedule so that the master schedule is always current. LapLink Remote
Access works with any Windows application, providing an invisible
communications capability that is easy to learn and use. It also provides
access to network files and printers. Unlike a remote control program,
LapLink Remote Access works completely in the background so that the
remote PC can also be accessed by a local user.

TS FAX

TS FAX enables users to write, send, receive, mark up, store and manage
faxes directly from their PC with a supported fax modem. TS FAX lets users
automate common tasks such as scheduling a fax at a specific date and
time, or send a fax to a group without having to manually dial the
numbers. TS FAX also automatically resends any fax, at user-defined
intervals, that fails to transmit. Users can also receive any incoming fax
in the background or directly to their printer.

TS OnLine

With TS OnLine users can dial into online services and bulletin boards. The
Dialer in TS OnLine comes with over 150 pre-defined entries to commonly
used information services such as MCI Mail, CompuServe and Dow Jones. TS
OnLine features a "learn" mode that records a users actions. Using this
recording users can automate their dial-ins with a simple desktop icon. TS
OnLine also enables users to transfer files in the background under
Windows with support for a wide range of binary transfer protocols,
including Kermit, XModem, YModem, ZModem, and Compuserve-B. TS OnLine
supports ANSI Color, DEC VT-52, VT-100, VT-220 and Generic (TTY)
terminals. TS OnLine also supports data transfer speeds from 1200 to
115,200 bps.

LapLink V

CommWorks also includes Traveling Software's best-selling file transfer
program LapLink V, which enables users to transfer data over a cable
(serial or parallel), modem, or over a Novell network to any connected PC.
LapLink V is a DOS program that provides Windows background operation and
SmartXchange for automated file transfers. SmartXchange allows users to
schedule a transfer to occur at a specified date and time, on a daily,
weekly or monthly basis.

LapLink Alert

LapLink Alert notifies users when a file, message, or fax arrives on their
PC. Users can also send messages to other users running LapLink Alert on a
Novell network. LapLink Alert allows users to select how they would like
their messages delivered with pre-defined options including a pop-up text
message, a sound file or both. There are several sound files included or
users can record their own. LapLink Alert will play any standard Windows
sound (.WAV) file.
