Economist Intelligence Unit Teams Up with SilverPlatter
to Publish a Series of New CD-ROM Products

For the first time ever, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) will be
offering a broad range of its global business information on CD-ROM
through a just announced arrangement with SilverPlatter Information. This
CD-ROM initiative represents another step in EIU's electronic publishing
strategy to provide customers with instant access to its information
through the electronic format of their choice. Released under the brand
name, EIU on Disc, this highly useful new line of CD-ROM products will be
available from both SilverPlatter and EIU Online, the newly formed
electronic publishing division of the EIU.

EIU on Disc will help managers stay on top of rapidly changing world market
conditions by providing electronic access to EIU's practical business
analysis, forecasts and advice on over 180 country markets. This unique
CD-ROM series, which will be released early 1994, will include the
complete versions of EIU's four leading business services: EIU Country
Reports, EIU Country Forecasts, EIU International Business Newsletters and
EIU Automotive Reports.

Compiled by EIU's global network of analysts and relied on by business
professionals for 40 years, EIU Country Reports on Disc provides a
comprehensive review of the latest economic, political and market
conditions for five major regions of the world: the Americas,
Asia/Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East/Africa and Western Europe. Each
25-40 page report offers a summary of the previous quarter's major
business events, analysis of recent political and economic developments,
short-term political and economic projections and the latest economic and
trade data. EIU Country Reports on Disc is updated bimonthly and includes
both Country Reports and Country Profiles. Subscriptions will be available
for individual regions or for the complete five-disc set.

For professionals seeking a valuable global planning tool, EIU Country
Forecasts on Disc provides the latest objective forecasts of medium- and
long-term political, economic and business trends. The service covers five
regions: the Americas, Asia/Pacific, Eastern Europe, Middle East/Africa
and Western Europe. Each country profile provides an in-depth analysis of
the current and future political and business environment; comprehensive
five-year projections of GDP growth, inflation, population foreign
indebtedness and many other important indicators; appraisals of the
country's prospects over the next ten years; five-year summaries of
historical data; special alerts to recent developments affecting
forecasts; and executive summaries and fact sheets. The format of all
reports is consistent to facilitate comparison between countries.
Subscriptions will be available for individual titles or for any
combination. Each CD-ROM will be updated bimonthly.

EIU International Business Newsletters on Disc has been designed as a
dynamic decision-support tool for global executives. It offers the
complete set of EIU's nine specialized newsletters covering the latest
business developments in 180 major and emerging markets. It provides quick
and easy access to practical information on all business fronts: economic
and political developments, regulatory changes, financial markets,
industry trends, labor conditions, corporate strategies and more. The nine
newsletters covered are: Business Africa, Business Asia, Business China,
Business Eastern Europe, Business Europe, Business Latin America, Business
Middle East, Crossborder Monitor and Finance & Treasury. These titles will
be offered as a single collection on a monthly updated CD-ROM.

EIU Automotive Reports on Disc provides unparalleled analysis of global
automotive trends. It includes EIU's complete automotive business series
of five full-text publications: International Motor Business, Japanese
Motor Business, European Motor Business, European Automotive Components
Business, and Rubber Trends. In addition, there are three full-text
special reports: Global Automotive Forecasts, World Components Industry
and Passenger Car Distribution. EIU Automotive Reports on Disc provides
current analysis of market developments within the highly competitive
international automotive industry, including latest developments, key
players, industry forecasts, interviews with automotive leaders, market
reports, company profiles, competitive information and assessments of key
challenges facing the industry. EIU Automotive Reports on Disc will be
offered on a single disc and updated bimonthly.

All of the EIU CD-ROM titles cover 1993 to the present and use
SilverPlatter's full-text retrieval software, SPIRS-FT. SPIRS-FT provides
easy access for expert and novice users alike. Users can search for a
single word or phrase, specify a particular field in which to search,
define a range for searching, combine search concepts with Boolean
operators or specify the proximity of words. Searchers can browse and
search directly from the database's Index or search by selecting a word or
phrase directly from a retrieved record. The database can also be accessed
through the hierarchical table of contents.

EIU and SilverPlatter have joined forces to develop this valuable CD-ROM
series of international business information. Both organizations bring
their own special skills. EIU has 44 years of experience in providing the
business community with analysis and advice on managing operations
successfully across national borders. And, as one of the first providers
