LAS VEGAS, NV-JANUARY 6, 1994--Sport Accolade, the newly created brand name
for Accolade's sports simulations, today debuted Unnecessary Roughness for
IBM PC and compatible computers. In an agreement with the National
Football League Players Association (NFLPA), this football simulation will
incorporate the names and statistics of the real pros set in Super VGA
graphics. This bone-snapping game will be the most graphically intense and
aggressive PC football game available, and will offer extra-large
rotoscoped and scaling player graphics in a rotating 3D stadium. It will
also be the only football simulation to feature Infinity Cam, a new
graphics technology that enables players to view the game from any angle.
Unnecessary Roughness will be available in January at a suggested retail
price of $59.95.

Unnecessary Roughness players go head-to-head against real NFLPA pros in a
ferocious battle of outrageous tackles, impossible one-handed catches,
brutal head-butts, and flying helmets. This high-impact football game is
filled with intense moves and realistic animation set in a stunning 256
color Super VGA graphic environment (640 x 400 or MCGA graphics 320 x
200). Choose from Thurman Thomas, Ronnie Lott, Barry Sanders, Reggie
White, "Neon" Deion Sanders and the rest of the NFLPA. Unnecessary
Roughness is a one or two-player competition or a two-player cooperative
game.

Players can compete in exhibition games, play complete seasons against all
28 pro league cities, or even customize their own league and take their
favorite team through the playoffs and the championship. Full season team
and player stats are updated all the way through to the championship. With
Unnecessary Roughness, players can view the game from any location with
infinite camera angles. This graphics technique allows gamers to get onto
the field and into the huddle. Players can also view close calls with the
instant replay, and view an automated highlight recap after the game.

Unnecessary Roughness provides players with a number of ways to customize
their game including the ability to create the ultimate dream team. Using
the team design editor, computer coaches can change the name, number and
vital characteristics of each player, as well as instantly set the colors
for the home and visiting uniforms of each team. Players can even
customize their own team logos. For computer coaches whose forte is play
design, Unnecessary Roughness offers an extensive playbook and
construction feature where players can unleash their strategic imagination
and create unlimited offensive and defensive plays. Unnecessary Roughness
also provides players with a variety of pre-designed plays and playbooks.

This realistic football game is complete with the voice of football
sportscaster Al Michaels, who calls the play-by-play. Michaels has been
honored with many awards in his career, including the coveted Emmy, and
most recently was voted the most popular professional football
play-by-play announcer by the readers of the San Jose Mercury News. His
recognizable voice can also be heard in Accolade's popular HardBall III
and soon in Brett Hull Hockey.

"I wanted Unnecessary Roughness to be the kind of football game I like to
play, physical yet strategic," said Danny Pisano, the producer of the
game. "Unnecessary Roughness brings gamers onto the grass with the real
pros. This is everything football is supposed to be."
