IRVINE, CA---January 3, 1993---Spider Island Software, maker of TeleFinder
bulletin board system (BBS)software for Macintosh, has released Version
3.2 of its Group Edition Host software with significant new features most
frequently requested by users and system operators (sysops).

TeleFinder 3.2 now gives users the ability to view GIF files in addition
to PICT format files and their captions while online, providing the
opportunity to automatically decompress and view graphics files while
downloading them. GIF is CompuServe's Graphic Interchange Format standard
for compressed images.

Additionally, TeleFinder 3.2 now includes built-in drivers for V.Fast
modems from Hayes, US Robotics, and Microcom. V.Fast is an emerging
standard for 28.8 Kbps modems. When using V.Fast-compatible modems and
V.42bis compression, TeleFinder is capable of achieving file transfer
rates exceeding 100,000 bits/sec. The scripts provide users with precise
modem wake-up and initialization commands to ensure automatic dialing and
easy logons.

Spider Island also announced that it now supports Internet Mail access via
InterFinder, a third-party mail gateway that supports the simple mail
transfer protocol (SMTP) commonly used for sending electronic mail over
the Internet. With InterFinder, TeleFinder sysops can now provide Internet
mail services to their BBS clients, with the potential of adding
newsgroups and FTP file transfers. InterFinder, developed by Swiss-based
Micro Frame, works in conjunction with Apple Computer's MacTCP and
TeleFinder to support the transfer, storage and retrieval of mail.
Available from Spider Island Software or Micro Frame, InterFinder will
retail at $395.

In addition to its graphical interface for Macintosh users and text- based
support for standard TTY, VT100, and ANSI terminal connections,
TeleFinder 3.2 now optionally supports Windows users with TeleFinder User
for Windows to provide the same, easy-to-use, graphical interface that
Macintosh users enjoy when connected to a TeleFinder BBS. TeleFinder User
for Windows works with any PC running Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher.
With the Windows support option, TeleFinder sysops can store both Mac and
Windows files in their native formats on the same Macintosh server.
TeleFinder User for Windows retails at $250 in addition to the host
software, and permits unlimited distribution of the client software.
Either the Macintosh or Windows client software can be freely downloaded
by new users of a TeleFinder BBS using standard terminal emulation
software.

Named for the second consecutive year Best Electronic Communications
product by MacWorld Australia, TeleFinder is capable of managing up to
32,000 users, and runs on all Macintosh computers from the Plus to the
Quadras. TeleFinder supports multiple lines and CPUs, internode chat and
conference rooms, full text formatting, and fast Z-Modem file transfers.
With a retail price of $425, and available direct from Spider Island and
through its resellers, TeleFinder 3.2 includes the host software,
Macintosh user-access software with unlimited distribution license, full
documentation, technical support via telephone and support BBS, and
carries a 30-day money-back guarantee.
