EA*Kids Puts Children in the Director's Chair with Music Video Program

First Make-your-Own Video Comes to Life on IBM PC

San Mateo, Calif.--Video Jam, the first program that lets children create
and play their own animated music videos, has been introduced for IBM PC
and compatibles by EA*Kids, and award-winning publisher of children's
computer software.

With more than 50 musical selections from rock to Bach, and a variety of
backgrounds, characters and special effects, children ages 7 and up have
the necessary materials to create the thousands of animated music videos
at the click of mouse. Video Jam features a sophisticated graphics
distortion engine that allows children to create their own unique
animations which are then automatically synchronized to the selected
music. Highly advanced MIDI sound and VGA graphics help make a child's
video creation a work of art that can be watched repeatedly.

Video Jam is unique among children's software titles currently on the
market for its adaptability to almost any age. Its' so easy to use that
young children will play with it for hours, yet sophisticated enough for
adults to be fascinated with the range of potential animations to be
created. It is also unconventional in that it features a player utility
that allows children to give their creations to friends, who can in turn
play them back on their computers with or without the Video Jam program!

"Video Jam is a young director's dream come true because it provides the
set, the music and the talent to begin honing your creative talent. Video
Jam provides an engaging opportunity to develop and enhance personal
creativity and the process involved in the step-by-step planning," said
Murray Allen, Director of Audio at Electronic Arts and Sound Designer for
the Grammy Awards.

To create a video masterpiece, children simply step into the director's
office and work their way through a series of options. First, they select
the preferred music-classical, rock and roll, hip-hop and many other
choices. Second, they peruse a number of background setting and select the
one which matches their artistic vision.

The next step is to hold a casting call. A variety of characters audition
for the video, showing off their individual animation tricks for the
director to evaluate. Once the cast is chosen, the child selects their own
special effects and props to fill out the video scenery. With a few simple
cuts here and there, the video masterpiece is complete - now it's on the
next one!
Video Jam is currently available for IBM PC and compatible computers, and
is available at leading software retail outlets nationwide.
