Traveling Software and National Semiconductor Ship LapLink Wireless with
AirShare

First Personal Wireless Linking Solution for Mobile PC Users

BOTHELL, Wash., Feb. 28, 1994 -- Traveling Software Inc. and National
Semiconductor Corp. today began shipping LapLink Wireless with AirShare.
An integrated hardware and software product, LapLink Wireless with
AirShare uses the latest in radio frequency (RF) technology to
automatically connect and synchronize directories between two computers
without the need to set up cables or swap disks.

Jointly developed by Traveling Software and National Semiconductor, the
product addresses an ongoing problem for portable computer users--how to
keep information on their portable and desktop computers current.

For example, users who take their portables on the road or to a meeting
often create files and update their personal organizers. When they arrive
back at the office, the National Semiconductor AirShare radio modules
connect computers within a 30-foot radius, while Traveling Software's
LapLink Wireless software synchronizes files on the connected computers.
LapLink Wireless includes Synchro Plus, a directory synchronization
application for Windows that automates file transfer tasks--whenever
Synchro Plus detects a connection, it begins the synchronization tasks
pre-defined by the user. Both DOS and Windows users can also share drives
and printers between two connected PCs, using LapLink Remote Access
software.

Available through resellers nationwide, LapLink Wireless has a suggested
retail price of $299.95 (U.S.).

"LapLink Wireless addresses a common requirement for connectivity in the
local environment," said Gail Kirby, group manager of mobile
communications services at BIS Strategic Decisions. "Our study of the
mobile professional market in the U.S. shows that nearly 70 percent of
users are looking for fast, seamless integration within a relatively small
area, such as an office or campus."

"There are several wireless solutions for linking LANs, WANs and individual
remote users, but LapLink Wireless with AirShare is the first product that
utilizes radio frequency for local point-to-point data communications,"
said Joel Silberman, marketing manager of National Semiconductor Corp.' s
Wireless Networking Group. "Unlike RF solutions that address wide-area
applications--for example, wireless E-Mail or spread-spectrum LAN
connectivity--AirShare modules are designed to enable personal,
out-of-the-box, wireless connectivity."

"LapLink Wireless is cableless and convenient, allowing people to easily
migrate to portable computing, without having to deal with desktop
connectivity hassles," said Mark Eppley, chairman and CEO of Traveling
Software Inc. "LapLink Wireless is like an automatic transmission in a
car. There is no need to manually 'shift gears' to update your files. You
just walk into your home or office, and the AirShare radio modules will
trigger an automatic synchronization."

Designed for portability, AirShare radio modules weigh only three ounces
each and measure only 2.25 inches by 3.5 inches by 0.5 inches. The modules
can be fastened directly to the PCs for easy portability. The design is
adaptable to future computing standards, such as PCMCIA.

A switch on the AirShare units allows the user to select among radio
frequencies, assuring that a clear channel is available for
communications. Power supply options include a mouse port pass-through
connector, a battery pack that takes one 9-volt battery and an AC
adapter.

Traveling Software and National Semiconductor partnered to jointly develop
and market integrated hardware and software products as part of each of
their strategies to address the needs of the growing market for mobile
wireless computing.
