Electronic-mail vendor CE Software Inc. is sending out a message per a news
item in Information Week -- Acquisitions are the key to growth. In early
March the company planned to acquire Powercore Inc, a leading group
calendering and scheduling vendor. The two companies will pursue workgroup
applications that operate across different vendors' messaging platforms.
The acquistion puts CE Software just behind Microsoft and Lotus in the
workgroup software market.

Motorola is entering the personal digital assistant with their Envoy
two-way wireless communicator featuring General Magic's Magic Cap
operating system and Telescript software. Weighing less than 2 pounds, the
package will retail for $1,500 this summer. Envoy will come bundled with a
variety of applications, including a calendar, notebook, interactive card
file and electronic mail. It will also provide access to on-line services
such as America Online.

Hewlett-Packard also entered the wireless market with HP StarLink, a
wireless messaging service that will transmit voice and data messages as
well as news, sports and financial information directly to HP 100LX
palmtop PCs. The service will be available next month with the
communications software package selling for $299.
