Black Box Corporation Announces its Catalog on CD-ROM

February 25, 1994 -- Black Box Corporation announces the first release of
its electronic BLACK BOX Catalog on CD-ROM. The January 1994 issue, mailed
this week to Black Box's customers, will be followed by future releases.
Black Box is touting the catalog as the "Automated Source for
Connectivity." According to Doug Goodall, Black Box Vice President of
Marketing and Business Development, "Each future release will build on the
premier issue and will include intelligent features that help customers
select and order products. We plan to take full advantage of both the
capacity and flexibility of the CD-ROM technology. The release date of the
next version of the BLACK BOX Catalog on CD-ROM will be determined after
incorporating customer input from the premier edition."

Included in the premier edition of the BLACK BOX Catalog on CD-ROM are
complete product descriptions, full-color photography, interactive and
multimedia segments, diagrams, an application drawing tool, selected
product manuals, and extensive search tools. The catalog, Goodall says, is
more than just a print publication converted for CD-ROM. "Our goal was to
improve on the printed catalog, not just digitize it. We hope that the
electronic BLACK BOX Catalog will improve the way customers buy computer
connectivity products by enhancing the amount and the quality of
information available to them. We also plan to utilize the CD-ROM
technology to address our international markets. This premier edition is
just the tip of the iceberg of what we envision."

Although company officials would not release complete details, they did say
that CD-ROM is not the only medium being considered. Says Goodall, "Our
intention is to leverage Black Box's core strengths through various types
of media and to generate greater market penetration. Our customers expect
the most of technology -- and we plan to use technology to the fullest to
support them."

running at 33MHZ or faster, an ISO-9660 compatible CD-ROM device (double
speed recommended), 4MB of RAM memory, 5MB of free hard disk space, MS-DOS
3.1 or later, Windows 3.1, and sound capability on your PC.
