CYLINK PAVES WAY FOR INFORMATION HIGHWAY WITH NEW PORTABLE, LOW-COST
ENCRYPTOR

February 24, 1994 -- SUNNYVALE, CA: Cylink Corporation, the world's leading
supplier of encryption systems, today introduced for the remote user its
smallest and least expensive encryptor, the LSA. It provides full DES
(Data Encryption Standard) encryption and network access control via a
unique authentication key.

"Today's business environment demands that information be electronically
transmitted around the clock. This urgent need to communicate has created
the market for laptop computers, which enable information to be sent and
received everywhere, " explains Kamy Kavianian, product line manager for
Cylink encryption products. " In addition," he adds, "for various reasons,
including corporate economics and employee convenience, more workers are
telecomputing from their homes. For both mobile and remote users,
companies increasingly recognize that it's often essential to ensure
information security. The LSA encryptor meets all the needs for remote
secure computing: it's small, lightweight, very easy to use, and very
affordable, yet offers the high level of security for which Cylink is
famous."

To make remote computing less cumbersome, the LSA is small enough to fit
into a briefcase--5-1/4" wide x 5" deep x 1-l/2" high--and weighs about
1-3/4 pounds. Competitors' models are larger and much heavier.

The encryptor is extremely easy to install and operate. Installation is
accomplished by plugging it between a PC or laptop and a modem and
configuring it via simple menus. Transparency of operation is achieved by
making the encryptor compatible with the AT command set, which is standard
in all modems, and with "autobaud," which automatically adjusts the
encryptor to employ the same baud rate up to 19.2 kbps that the modem is
already using.

Listed at $795, with volume discounts available, the LSA is price
competitive with low-end products of other manufacturers. However, it is
the only compact model featuring Cylink's proprietary public key
management system, SEEK (Secure Electronic Exchange of Keys). SEEK
eliminates the need for manual key distribution, usually the most
expensive aspect of data security and that most vulnerable to compromise.
"The LSA's competitive price, coupled with its SEEK public key management
system, provides the most cost-effective way available for companies to
secure data transmitted over remote PCs and laptops," according to Mr.
Kavianian.

The LSA is fully compatible with Cylink's LS and MLS low-speed encryptors
and when used in combination with the CIDEC-MLS provides a complete
low-cost solution for remote computing applications that require
encryption and authentication.
