ENSONIQ Adds General MIDI to TS Series Performance/Composition Synthesizer

MALVERN, PA, February 28, 1994--A new upgrade now makes ENSONIQ's TS Series
Performance/Composition Synthesizers (TS-10 and TS-12) fully General MIDI
compatible for proper playback of sequences generated by computers and
other General MIDI devices. The O.S. Version 3.0 GM upgrade provides 16
channel multi-timbral MIDI reception with all 128 GM sounds, including all
eight GM and GS drum kits, permanently stored in ROM.

With this upgrade, TS Series instruments can now receive MIDI playback of
music created according to the universal program map of GM. The TS-10 and
TS-12 can receive GM data from computer music software, sequences created
on other GM instruments, computer game soundtracks, or any General MIDI
library available. The user can play up to 16 simultaneous sounds, and can
remotely enable or disable reception using standard Universal System
Exclusive messages.

The TS Series' General MIDI mode automatically sets-up the instrument for
16 part reception as defined in the GM spec for guaranteed accurate
playback. In this mode, all other functions of the TS-10 and TS-12 are
disabled, making it an easy-to-use sound source for receiving GM data.
Reception can be disabled on selected channels for playing an
accompaniment, lead line, or percussion to fully orchestrated music for
educational or "Music Minus One" applications.

"We made this upgrade to give our TS customers easy access to the many
interesting educational, entertainment and performance software programs
now available through General MIDI," said Steve Claflin, ENSONIQ's Vice
President of Marketing, "and to offer a better-sounding alternative to
musicians looking for a General MIDI sound source."

General MIDI is now a standard feature of all manufactured TS-10 and TS-12
Performance Composition Synthesizers. O.S. Version 3.0 General MIDI ROM
chips are available to current TS-10 and TS-12 owners through Authorized
ENSONIQ Repair Stations for $99.95. Price includes installation. For
