Computerworld on CD Has New Look!

A new appearance for Computerworld on CD was introduced this January with
the fourth quarter 1993 release. The introduction now includes full color
graphics and text descriptions for each database, as well as information
boxes for Computerworld editorial sections, customer support, technical
support, and hardware requirements. The graphical introduction also offers
advertisers an opportunity to include company and product information,
electronic catalogs, presentations, or product demos in full color.

A special promotion for Computerworld on CD offering a free demo disc also
began in January. The ad runs in Computerworld and offers a free demo disc
for Computerworld on CD. The demo includes six months of Computerworld
editorial. With only four ads run thus far, close to 1,000 discs have been
requested.

Network World Desktop Marketing System Enhanced to Include Dun & Bradstreet
Data

In addition to a wide range of networking information, Dun & Bradstreet
information on Network World subscribers is now available. This
information is made available through Network World's Desktop Marketing
System - designed to provide market analysis and lead generation
capabilities at the desktop via CD-ROM. This means qualified Network IS
professionals can be targeted by the following Dun's categories in
addition to hundreds of NWW ones:

- Duns#
- Ultimate Duns #
- Duns Headquarter #
- Fortune 1000 indicator
- SIC codes for primary, secondary, and other industries
- Sales volume by location
- Number of employees by location
- Number of employees by corporation
- Contact information including name, title, address,
  and phone number

With this new information comes an increased knowledge about Network World
readers and the networking industry - knowledge that can then be passed on
to the industry. This is a real advantage for those who are targeting
network professionals as customers.

As a beginning step toward Network World 's planned unitization, attaining
D&B information on readers allows Network World to measure penetration by
specific location. This information will help guide Network World's
circulation efforts so that greater levels of Network IS professionals
empowered to purchase network products and services are achieved.

Digital Using NWW DMS in Regional Sales and Marketing Activities

Digital Equipment Corporation recently signed a contract with ETA which
enables them to use Network World's Desktop Marketing System (NWW DMS) in
their Multivendor Customer Services business. Digital is targeting
companies that have multiple systems and hardware in place that require
service and support. The Eastern Regional Marketing division has been
using the database since September 1993 for various activities such as
market analysis, direct response promotions, telemarketing and lead
generation. Six eastern regional sales offices have received a CD-ROM
reader and a customized version of the CD-ROM with access to the records
or profiles for companies in their territory. The system will be
implemented by other sales offices throughout the U.S. by this summer. The
database is utilized by the sales divisions to target qualified prospects
with the D&B contact information being used for further qualification,
prioritization, and follow-up. The selected profiles are then imported
into contact management databases used by the individual sales staff for
further manipulation and action.
