IPSWITCH, Inc. Releases Developer's Kit Version 1.4

Now with added support for developing 32-bit OS/2 applications

March 21, 1994, New York, NY - Ipswitch, Inc. announced today the
availability of the Ipswitch Developer's Kit Version 1.4 for its
multiplatform TCP/IP products which include Catipult NetWare Gateway,
Piper/IP for DOS and Windows, and Vantage/IP for OS/2. In conjunction with
a C compiler, it will allow the application programmer to create network
application programs in real or protected mode operation under DOS, OS/2
or Windows. This new Version 1.4 is compatible with IBM C Set/2 compiler
for OS/2, and is based on the Berkeley Sockets calls, Berkeley Sockets
libraries and TCP/IP protocols. In addition, Microsoft C/C++ version 7.0
and Borland C/C++ version 3.1 are supported for DOS and Windows
applications. Included in the Kit are header files, libraries for small
and large model programming, sample source, a make utility, and manual
pages.

DISTRIBUTION FILES

The distribution files consist of header files and library files. The
header files are contained in the INCLUDE directory tree, and have the
same names as standard C header files. There are also several programming
libraries including those for small and large model real mode programs, as
well as for small and large protected mode programs. Also available are
libraries for creating multi-threaded programs and stand-alone dynamic
link libraries. Special options are provided for use in conjunction with
the C library to create combined C runtime/socket dynamic link libraries.
Similar socket libraries are used for Windows and Sun. All large model
libraries are compiled with the -Aw option and do not depend on stack and
primary data segments being identical. To eliminate stack probes, all
libraries are compiled with the -Gs option. It also includes library files
for DOS and Windows programming under Borland's Turbo/Professional C/C++.
The 32-bit library files for OS/2 programming under IBM's C set/2 compiler
include single-and multithreaded versions. Sample sources are provided as
a guide to using the Ipswitch development environment. A Make utility
which includes many features of the UNIX version is contained in the BIN
directory.

UNIX COMPATIBILITY

Ipswitch provides several compatibility functions to ease the porting of
UNIX applications. These functions are intended only for
compatibility--new applications can make use of native operating system
features unless portability to UNIX is desired.

IPSWITCH, Inc. was founded in September 1991 to develop and market
software-only networking products. Privately funded, IPSWITCH is a Novell
Professional Developer. Also available are Catipult, a Netware TCP/IP
gateway, and Merq, and NFS client for Novell's LAN Workplace for OS/2. The
company's new headquarters are in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
