Logitech Announces MovieMan Video & Audio Capture Board

Integrated Product Sets New Price Point; Offers Simultaneous Capture of
Video and Audio at 30 Frames per Second

Fremont, Calif. -- March 1, 1994 -- Logitech Inc, international market
leader in sight, sound, and touch for the personal computer, has entered
the retail digital video market with today's announcement of the MovieMan
Video & Audio Capture Board Priced at $299 (SRP), the product will be
available through Logitech dealers and distributors in mid-April.

MovieMan captures true color video and high-quality audio together at a
full 30 frames-per-second. Because the signal capture is integrated, sound
and video are always synchronized, and there is no need for a separate
sound card MovieMan is the only board on the market that is "digital video
ready," supporting both NTSC and PAL analog signals as well as the Digital
Video Connector Interface (DVCI), an emerging digital video interface
standard It can capture still images in resolutions up to 640x480 in
24-bit color The unit can also play CD-ROM based multimedia titles through
support for Microsoft Video for Windows and audio .WAV files Onboard
compression provides basic Level I hardware-assisted compression at a
factor of four to six; however, MovieMan's modular design allows
expandability for more powerful compression add-ons. This means users will
be able to easily upgrade, while preserving their initial investment as
compression technology continues its rapid course of evolution.

"MovieMan represents the most affordable and easy way to add both video and
sound to the PC, " says Susan Egnoto, Logitech product manager "It
promises to open the market to a new class of consumers -- 'next
adopters,' a group of PC-savvy end users who are enthusiastic and
knowledgeable about new technologies but wait for products to become
affordable."

MovieMan will ship with a feature-rich set of software programs, including
a complete version of Adobe's best-selling Premiere video editing
application, and two packages from Logitech: FotoTouch Color image editing
software for single frame editing and "EasyClip" capture software for
one-touch "drag-and-drop" image capture. This combination of audio and
video capture plus accompanying software represents a retail value of
$700.

The MovieMan product was developed jointly by Logitech and Winnov, L.P., a
Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company "Our partnership with Winnov represents a
significant step in Logitech's video product strategy," says Dominique
Pitteloud, video product unit manager for Logitech "Winnov's innovative
chip technology and multimedia software provide the high level of
integration necessary to deliver low-cost multimedia solutions " Late in
1993, Logitech also announced a development and marketing agreement with
Teleview Research, Inc., a developer of advanced display and imaging
technologies, whereby Logitech will provide digital video cameras for
systems manufacturers and integrators.

System requirements for MovieMan include an IBM PC/AT or compatible system
with a 486 processor or above, 8MB RAM, Microsoft Windows 3 I running DOS
5 0 or higher, a VGA or higher graphics card, one 3.25-inch (1.44 MB) disk
drive and a hard disk, and a Logitech or compatible pointing device.

Logitech designs, manufactures, and markets "Senseware" -- products
intended to give human-like "senses" such as sight, sound, and touch to
the computer, making human-to-computer communications more intuitive and
natural Retail and OEM products of the company and its affiliates include
pointing devices (such as mice and trackballs), hand-held scanners,
digital cameras, pen digitizers, joysticks, sound products, and related
software applications for IBM, Macintosh, and other platforms Logitech
