Nokia Brings Workstation-Quality 17-inch Color Monitor to the General
Computing Market

Macintosh, PC, PowerPC, UNIX Office and Home Users Get Unprecedented
Monitor Performance, Control and Value

SAUSALITO, California, March 14, 1994 -- Nokia Display Products, Inc., a
leading supplier of advanced computer monitor technology and a division of
Nokia, announced today that its newest high-performance monitor, the
seventeen-inch Multigraph 447X, will begin shipping to U.S. distributors
in May.

Manufactured in Finland, the new monitor is built around an anti-glare
coated Trinitron tube with a 0.26mm aperture grill. It delivers a
recommended resolution of 1280 by 1024 at a 75Hz refresh rate, and can
produce a high-end resolution of 1600x1200 at a 60 Hz refresh rate. The
447X has a horizontal frequency range of 30-82 kHz, includes Nokia's
intuitive on-screen menu for all adjustments, and autosyncs with any
desktop computer system.

The 447X is compliant with the VESA DPMS power saver specification, and is
Nutek compliant, ensuring both upward and downward compatibility
independent of computing platforms' CPUs. The new monitor is MPR II
compliant and can be purchase with optional TCO compliance.

The Multigraph 447X lists for just $1,250 (MSRP), has a three year limited
warranty and includes a Macintosh adapter. It exceeds all other 17-inch
monitors in price/performance, making it a top competitor in its category,
and a strong alternative to 19- and 20-inch monitors that may deliver
comparable resolution and refresh rates, but which lack the features,
smaller footprint, image quality and unprecedented user control of the
447X. For distribution or purchase information, call (800) 296-6452
(BYNOKIA).

Filling a Void

The Multigraph 447X offers users with intensive display requirements but
limited space the perfect alternative to traditional large footprint, high
cost monitors. This defines growing segments of the Macintosh and PC
markets (and the emerging Power PC market) driven by system software and
applications optimized for sophisticated graphical user environments that
require higher performance monitors than their predecessors.

Users limited by 15-inch monitor formats and unable to spend $2,000 or more
on a monitor that would meet their performance needs but exceed their
space contraints have an excellent alternative in the Multigraph 447X.
Users of dated 19- and 20-inch monitors can reclaim desk space while
increasing their image quality and adding features for a competitive
price.

Nokia Pioneered Features

The Multigraph 447X comes standard with many Nokia-pioneered features and
picture quality enhancements not found on most monitors. Nokia was the
first to offer on-screen menus, and is still the only manufacturer to
offer FullScreen, a feature that eliminates the black border found on most
monitors, expanding the viewable application area by up to 10% without
distortion.

Nokia also pioneered horizontal convergence, white uniformity and color
temperature technologies, and has been a consistent forerunner in
commercialization of advanced power saving and emmissions shielding
technologies. Nokia offered the first Energy Star and MPR II monitors in
the world, and was the first to offer monitors compliant with the rigorous
TCO specification recommended by the National Foundation for Cancer
Research (NFCR) for its low electromagnetic emissions requirements.

On-Screen Controls

The on-screen menu offers by far the most user control of any product on
the market, including brightness, contrast, color temperature, focus,
pincushion, picture height, width, position, tilt, trapezoid,
orthogonality, horizontal/vertical convergence, RGB, synchronization, high
contrast on/off, preset recall, degausing, power saver on/off, and
multiple language selection.
