NSSI INTRODUCES FAILSAFE II FOR OS/2

UPS Interface Software Provides Orderly Shutdown for OS/2 Systems

San Diego, March 14, 1994 - Network Security Systems Inc. (NSSI), a
recognized leader in uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs) and UPS power
management software, today introduced FailSafe II for OS/2, complete power
management software that controls and manages power in an OS/2
environment. NSSI's Failsafe II for OS/2 brings to standalone systems the
power control required to avoid the loss of data in volatile memory in a
multi-tasking environment. FailSafe II for OS/2 is available now at a U.S.
List price of $99.

"Multi-tasking is in great demand to improve the speed and flexibility of
the computing environment. Many computer users are now making the switch
from single-tasking operating systems such as DOS to the OS/2
multi-tasking environment," said Steve Nye, president of NSSI.

Nye went on to note that switching to a multi-tasking operating environment
creates a potential hazard as users are at an increased risk of data loss
in the event of a system crash due to a power failure. "In a DOS
environment, a power failure can cause the loss of data associated with a
single task. In an OS/2 environment, the risk of losing data is extended
to 'n' number of tasks. FailSafe II solves this problem by providing an
orderly system shutdown which safeguards file structures and data."

FailSafe II for OS/2 power management features include:

* automatic and orderly shutdown without the need for manual
  intervention -- critical to maintaining data integrity in a
  multi-tasking environment;
* continuous real-time monitoring of utility power for surges,
  sags and blackouts;
* real-time configuration of hardware and software operations
  without re-installing the software or rebooting the computer;
* an exclusive "PowerPro" feature for setting voltage limits,
  thus customizing the hardware operation to local power
  conditions and preserving battery capacity; and
* software controlled preventative maintenance procedures
  providing increased system life and reliability.

FailSafe II for OS/2 and NSSI's line of intelligent UPSs (IPS/A.I. models)
combine to provide a complete fault tolerant power system.

NSSI's family of UPSs include models ranging from 450VA/315 watts through
2KVA/1600 watts. Support is provided for Novell NetWare and NMS, Microsoft
Windows, OS/2, UNIX, Banyan, DOS, LAN Server, Windows NT and 3COM. The
company's products are available through many leading value-added
resellers and distributors including Dell, Ingram Micro, Merisel, Tech
Data and Vitek. For additional product information, contact NSSI at (800)
