Abacus Teams with Sir Speedy on The Photo CD Book

Grand Rapids, Mich. -- February 24, 1994 -- Abacus, the "Computing
Know-How" publishing company, together with Sir Speedy, Inc., announced
today their cooperative efforts on The Photo CD Book. Sir Speedy announced
an agreement in January with the Eastman Kodak Company to make Sir Speedy
a prime vendor for Kodak Photo CD portfolio disc authoring in its
franchises across the U.S. This association with Abacus further broadens
the alliance and commitment to reach the consumer level worldwide. Abacus,
the book's publisher, enlisted the support of Kodak and Sir Speedy to help
make The Photo CD Book the best information source and the best value on
the market for the new Photo CD technology.

Written for CD-ROM/multimedia fans, photography buffs, graphic artists,
desktop publishers, and the "technologically curious", The Photo CD Book
is an important source for learning and understanding the "whats" and
"how-tos" of this new digital image technology developed by Kodak.

The Photo CD Book covers all the bases: background and uses for Photo CD,
elements of photography and image processing, information on how to set up
a Photo CD (PCD) system (including hardware and software configurations),
how to create Photo CDs, and how to set up a home theater, and closes with
a Photo CD Workshop that gives users hands-on experience in applying the
knowledge they've gained. The Workshop also has a segment on the companion
CD-ROM that's packaged in the back of the book. Also on the CD-ROM are
Microtek Lab, Inc.'s PhotoStar, a slideshow viewer program that lets users
see photos in thumbnail or full size, PhotoVision Lite, a slideshow viewer
from Toshiba GmbH, and a variety of sample photographs.

Sir Speedy, Inc., the nation's largest business printer, was the first to
commit to the back-of-book coupon section provided in The Photo CD Book.
Sir Speedy has more than 320 of its locations equipped with PCD portfolio
disc authoring equipment. Its coupons will be for $2 off Photo CD
processing and $20 off the creation of a Portfolio CD at any participating
location.

"We at Sir Speedy are very much interested in The Photo CD Book. Having
information like this available for the general public will encourage
people to experiment with Photo CD technology and can only help us build
our business in this area. We're happy to provide the discount coupons. We
want to let people know that Sir Speedy is ready to serve their Photo CD
processing needs and invite them to become regular Sir Speedy customers.
Our discount coupons will give people an incentive to experiment with PCD
with less concern over the cost of processing," said Chuck Lennon, Sir
Speedy advertising manager.

"We're very excited about bringing The Photo CD Book to market and about
our association with Sir Speedy. The Photo CD technology developed by
Kodak fits in prefectly with the computer specialty or "niche" books that
Abacus is know for," said Arnie Lee, Abacus president. "Sir Speedy and
Kodak have both been especially supportive in helping us to get this book
completed and off the ground."

The Photo CD Book will be available in stores April 15. At only $29.59 US,
this informative book, with its coupon section and companion CD-ROM,
provides an excellent value for end users.

Abacus is an established publisher of computer books and software since
1978. The company has published well over 300 titles that provide the
computer software and book market with information on "niche" topics that
many publishing giants overlook. Abacus books and software can be found at
