QuiltSOFT Quilter's Design Studio Features:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Quilt Design Tools...

Copy Block -- copying a block is a simple as pressing a button. One press
of the mouse button creates a copy of any block in the quilt.

Block Size -- The designer specifies the actual block size in inches. A
block can be any size from as small as 1.2" (or even smaller) to as large
as 48" (or even larger). There are no limits. The size specified is used
only to calculate the quilt yardage requirements and print quilt piece
templates. Other than those uses it has no effect on the quilt design.
Blocks that were intended to be 2" and 8" could be shown the same size on
the screen, although not in the same quilt.

Copy Row -- A horizontal or vertical row of quilt blocks can be copied and
pasted to the left side, right side, top, or bottom of the quilt. Quilts
with repetitive patterns are produced very rapidly.

Array -- An array command allows a quilt to be automatically constructed
with either one or two quilt blocks. Blocks can be alternated and flipped
in any direction as the quilt is constructed.

Copy Quilt -- An entire quilt can be copied and then reused to design a new
quilt by changing colors, block styles, block size, number of blocks,
patterns, borders or sashes.

Positioning -- Blocks are positioned by dragging them into place with the
mouse.

Snap -- A quilt block only needs to be dragged near to where the designer
wants to position it. When the mouse button is released, the block will
automatically float into the correct position based on the snap set by the
designer. Snap can be set so that blocks align only on block boundaries or
on 1/5, 1/4, 1/3 or 1/2 block units. A special snap is provided for
hexagonal blocks. Snap is automatically adjusted based on the size of the
block used.

Borders -- Borders can be automatically added.

Sashes -- Vertical and/or horizontal sashes can be automatically added.

Grid -- A rectangular, hexagonal or on-point alignment grid to aid the
designer with block placement can be toggled on or off.

Library -- A library of quilt blocks: 1 patch, 3 patch, 4 patch, 5 patch, 7
patch, 9 patch, sashes, borders, stars and hexagons is provided. This
library can be expanded by the designer. The designer "points-and-shoots"
to pick a block to use in a quilt. Any number of blocks can be used in any
quilt.

Gallery -- A gallery for storing and displaying completed quilt designs is
provided with the Quilter's Design Studio
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Block Transformation Tools...

Flip -- Blocks can be flipped in any of the following ways: up-down,
left-right, diagonally top left to bottom right or diagonally top right to
bottom left.

Rotate -- A block can be rotated to any angle.

On-Point -- A block can be put on-point.

Resize -- Blocks can be resized individually in size and shape by dragging
one corner of the block with the mouse. For example, a square block can be
made larger, smaller or rectangular.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Color & Pattern Tools...

Colors -- Blocks can be colored in any of the 256 colors provided in
scrolling color palettes. Each piece of a block can be assigned two
colors, one for its body and one for its pattern. Coloring a block is as
simple as "point-and-shoot." The designer points with the mouse at the
piece of the block to color and then points at the color to use. If one of
the 192 colors isn't suitable, a Palette Maker is provided that allows the
designer to build any number of 64 color palettes that can be used with
the Quilter's Design Studio.

Patterns: Any piece of any block can be assigned any one of 128 different
patterns. Assigning a pattern to a block is done the same way as coloring.
Point at the piece of the block and then point at the pattern.

Swapping -- Any color or pattern in the quilt can be swapped for any other
color or pattern. Point at the color or pattern to change and then point
at the new color pattern.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Quilt Block Design Tools...

Rectangles -- A rectangle drawing tool is provided to draw rectangular
block pieces. Point to one corner of the rectangle and drag the rectangle
into shape by holding down the mouse button. The rectangle will be
automatically aligned to the chosen grid.

Ellipses -- An ellipse drawing tool is provided to draw circular or
elliptical block pieces. Point to one corner of the rectangle and drag the
ellipse into shape by holding down the mouse button. The ellipse will be
automatically aligned to the chosen grid.

Pies -- A pie drawing tool is provided to draw 1/4 circle or 1/4 ellipse
block pieces. Point to center of the pie and drag the pie into shape by
holding down the mouse button. The pie will be automatically aligned to
the chosen grid.

Polygons -- The most powerful tool is the polygon tool. With this tool
polygons of any number of sides and angles can be created. Point to the
starting point of the polygon and click the mouse button then drag the
mouse to the next point, click and drag again until all sides of the
polygon have been drawn. Press the "Make Piece" button and a perfectly
aligned polygon is drawn.

Grids -- Grids are provided for designing 4 patch, 5 patch, 7 patch, 9
patch and hexagonal guilt blocks. In addition to these grids a 9x9 grid
and a 12x12 grid are provided. Designs are automatically aligned to grid
boundaries.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Program Use Tools...

Help -- Help is as close as a keystroke away. Press F1 to get the help
menu. From this menu the designer can select help on the use of the mouse
and the command menus.

Manual -- A manual with illustrated instructions for using the Quilter's
Design Studio and creating quilts and quilt blocks is provided.

Handi-Card -- A quick reference card is provided. This card is a guide to
Quilter's Design Studio keyboard shortcuts for menu commands, mouse
operations, program messages, and techniques for working with quilts and
quilt blocks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Quilting Tools...
