U.S.ROBOTICS SLASHES HIGH-SPEED PCMCIA PRICING; REINFORCES POSITION AS
TOP-QUALITY PRICING LEADER

SKOKIE, Ill., -- March 8, 1994 -- U.S. Robotics, Inc., today announced
dramatic price reductions on its high-speed WorldPort PCMCIA modems. The
company reduced list prices by as much as 40 percent. The new pricing is
effective immediately.

Design enhancements have enabled U.S. Robotics to make this pricing move.
The new prices position U.S. Robotics to expand its share of the PCMCIA
market, while at the same time giving channel partners opportunities to
increase sales.

"In order for mobile computing professionals to adopt the PCMCIA standard,
the products must be reasonably priced, fully featured and easy-to-use
communication solutions," said Michael Seedman, U.S. Robotics general
manager and vice president, personal communications group. "These new
prices continue our history of design and cost efficiency, while boosting
the PCMCIA market and stimulating growth by making the technology
accessible to a greater number of users. "

The PCMCIA market is growing exponentially. Six million PCMCIA modems are
expected to ship worldwide in 1996, up from 750,000 units in 1993.
Revenues for the 1996 PCMCIA market are expected to achieve more than $600
million, which doubles 1993 revenues, according to International Data
Corporation.
