NEC INTRODUCES A NOTEBOOK COMPUTER WITH INTEL'S NEW DX4 PROCESSOR

New CPU Provides Users with the Most Powerful Notebook Computer Available
Today

March 7, 1994, Boxorough, Mass.-- Building on the success of its
award-winning Versa Series notebook computers, NEC Technologies today
leaps ahead of its competitors by introducing a new Versa E notebook
computer equipped with the new 75MHz Intel DX4 processor.

The Intel DX4 75MHz processor offers higher performance than the popular
66MHz Intel DX2 processor. This high-performance processor is designed to
provide a lightning-fast computing environment and the best 486
performance in a notebook computer. By integrating Intel's low power
consumption 3.3 volt design and SL technology in the 75MHz Versa model,
NEC maintains high performance processing without sacrificing the long
battery life of the Versa Series.

"NEC is proud to be able to simultaneously announce this new notebook with
Intel's DX4 announcement," said Bob Levin, director of marketing for NEC's
Portable Systems Group. "Once again, the Versa's modular, upgradeable
design enables it to immediately incorporate the latest technology."

The Versa E 75MHz DX4 model is the perfect solution for desktop as well as
portable computing when combined with its optional Docking Station. Just
as the original Versa and Versa E notebook computers made significant
improvements in notebook performance, the Versa E 75MHz DX4 model
continues to set the standard to which other notebooks are measured.

A History of Leadership in the Versa

Almost one year ago, NEC introduced its original UltraLite Versa notebook
computer, empowering mobile computer users to experience unprecedented
high-end desktop system performance on the road. The Versa notebook
computer's modular, sleek design integrates its components into a
power-packed, flexible mobile system created to meet the demanding needs
of any mobile computer user--on the road, in the office or at work.

The original Versa notebook computer re-engineered notebook computing by
providing users with five upgrade paths including display, hard disk
drive, memory, processor and pen computing. The Versa notebook computer
offers a user-removable, upgradeable and reversible STN monochrome or
active-matrix TFT color display design that converts from a notebook to a
pen tablet in seconds. PCMCIA slots allowed users to insert and remove
PCMCIA cards without powering down the system.

NEC leveraged the Versa notebook computer's success in December, 1993, by
adding more innovations to its top-selling Versa notebook computer with
the introduction of the Versa E or Enhanced Series of notebook computers.
The Versa E Series of notebook computers comes equipped with larger hard
disk drives, a brighter active-matrix TFT screen, longer battery life, a
smaller AC Adapter, VersaTrack integrated trackball, faster processors and
a host of additional options, including cellular connectivity.
