Employee Data Management Program for Small Businesses Ships Windows-based
HR management now available for business managers

SEATTLE, Washington--March 25, 1994--Paradigm Software Development is
shipping version 1.1 of WorkWise-Employee File, its Windows-based employee
data management system. First introduced at COMDEX in November, 1993,
WorkWise-Employee File is a management system for gathering the employee
data an employer must keep to protect against wrongful termination and
discrimination suits. The program is designed to be used by managers that
are not human resource professionals and is priced to be affordable for
small- and medium-sized companies.

WorkWise-Employee File views employees from a operations perspective
allowing managers to track employee profiles, injuries, time off work,
training, certification, attendance, and benefits. The program includes
overviews showing trends, profiles and attendance patterns for individual
employees or all employees in a workgroup. "We've brought traditional
human resources automation to the front line," says Cliff Monlux,
Paradigm's president. "We focus on providing managers a tool that quickly
and easily documents information that often slips through the cracks in a
company's reporting system." According to Robert Blackstone, chairman of
the employment law department at Davis Wright Tremain, a Seattle-based law
firm, "One of the hardest things is to try and get the employer to
document employee performance before acting to terminate or discipline
them. They need a paper trail."

WorkWise-Employee File was developed with the small business in mind, and
is also being incorporated into the human resource departments of some
large organizations. The program is written in Visual Basic, uses
Microsoft's Access data engine, is fully SQL compliant, allows for data
encryption, and is now TWAIN compliant so that employee pictures can be
easily scanned. Using third-party packages such as Paperclip Imaging
Software and Crystal Reports, installations can be enhanced to allow
customized reports and the inclusion of images of workers' job
applications, W2 forms, driver's licenses, training certificates and other
required records WorkWise-Employee File allows true multi-user access with
record locking, import and export to major data formats, a database
consolidation utility, and full data protection security.

WorkWise-Employee File is available primarily through VARs and starts at
$395 for a single user version. Site licenses and network versions are
also available from Paradigm Software Development and their authorized
resellers.
