Berard Software Engineering Announces
The Object-Oriented Analysis & Design Pilot Bundle

May 15, 1994 -- Gaithersburg, Maryland -- Berard Software Engineering
(BSE), Inc., today began shipping The Object-Oriented Analysis & Design
Pilot Bundle. The Pilot Bundle includes a limited version of BOCS (BSE's
object-oriented CASE tool), user documentation, the publication A Complete
Object-Oriented Design Example, 2nd Edition, and selected slides from
BSE's course, Object-Oriented Requirements Analysis. The Pilot Bundle
satisfies the increasing demand for automated tools, with fully worked
examples, to accelerate the transition to object-oriented modeling and
development.

The Pilot Bundle assists many organizations with the learngin curve
associated with evaluating and adopting of object-oriented technology.
BOCS allows analysts and designers to quickly and easily create
programming-language-independent object specifications, then automatically
generates formatted documentation, combining both text and graphics, into
popular publishing packages such as Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, and Lotus
Ami Pro. BOCS also provides code generation into C++, Smalltalk/V and
Smalltalk-80.

Complete system designs can be captured using the many graphical modeling
techniques supported by BOCS including: Petri net graphs, semantic
networks, state transition diagrams, object-message diagrams, program unit
graphics, and timing diagrams. A flexible Traceability Tool allows users
to trace requirements directly into design and implementation. Library
management tools are provided to support the merging or separating of
project work to team members.

The Pilot Bundle version of the BOCS CASE tool is limited to saving 15
models and 15 object specifications.

The publication, A Complete Object-Oriented Design Example, 2nd Edition,
includes all design documentation as well as all necessary C++ and
Smalltalk source code. IEEE Computer magazine's January 1994 issue cited
the design example as being second of five in terms of being the best
publication for learning OOP.

BOCS runs on IBM PC or PC-compatible with a 386 or 486 processor running
Microsoft Windows 3.1. Recommended memory and storage requirements: 8MB
RAM and 7MB available hard disk space. A VGA monitor and a mouse are
required.

The Pilot Bundle costs $79.00 and is available from Berard Softwrae
Engineering. Users may upgrade to BOCS for $595.00 and be credited for
their Pilot Bundle purchase.

BSE is a technology insertion company specializing in training, consulting,
and products for object-oriented technology.
