Nonlinear Video Editing Software Targets Professional Editors Needing High
Performance, Reasonably Priced Offline Editor

(Seattle, WA May 18, 1994)--Hitchcock, a software-based nonlinear digital
video editor shipped today from the CoSA division of Aldus Corporation.
Priced at $1,995, Hitchcock is targeted toward professional editors who
need a robust editing tool for offline editing. As an offline editing
system, Hitchcock can be used by freelance editors, corporate
communications groups and production studios to complement their
proprietary online editing systems while reducing associated expenses.

Hitchcock 1.0 works as an off-the-shelf solution and offers powerful, true
SMPTE-based frame accurate editing features not found in other turnkey
solutions for essentially half the price. Hitchcock works either the
Radius VideoVision Studio, or the SuperMac DigitalFilm cards. Combining
Hitchcock with one of these two boards is a $4000-$5000 solution vs. the
nearest turnkey solution of approximately $10,000.

Hitchcock previewed at the National Association of Broadcasters convention
in late March. "Professional editors expressed excitement over their
ability to purchase. an off-the-shelf software solution that didn't
sacrifice their workflow or key feature set," said Enrique Godteau,
Project Manager. "Editors not requiring broadcast output, agreed that
Hitchcock was a great offline editing solution and felt anyone else
needing output in digital format or tape would now have an affordable
nonlinear video editing solution."

"Hitchcock seamlessly integrates the disparate worlds of professional
analog video and nonlinear digital video through standard SMPTE timecode.
There is no more powerful and expandable system nor a more intuitive and
comfortable interface. Mac users will delight in this product," said Jim
Lewis, MD of Digital Film Works.
