1024x768 Resolution in a 100 MHz Flat Panel Computer

May 16, 1994 -- Greer, SC . . . Computer Dynamics announces the
introduction of the DisplayPac-SVGA, the first flat panel computer to
feature the new 11.8-inch 1024x768 active matrix color TFT LCD. This
state-of-the-art display provides brilliant, no-flicker color in a highly
readable format and resolution to meet today's information-intensive
software environments. The rugged, powerful computer behind the display
includes a 486DX4 CPU to 100 MHZ, all standard PC features, floppy and
hard drives, and a PCMCIA drive. Measuring only 14.5" x 10.5" x 3.5", this
computing power, dazzling display and optional resistive touchscreen
create an ideal package for medical instrumentation, data acquisition and
statistical process control applications, mapping systems, air traffic
control, and other applications that require detailed images.

The 1024x768 LCD displays up to 64,000 colors on the easy-to-read 11.8"
screen. This resolution allows for more specific, clearer depiction of
your on-screen information -- charts, photos, maps, etc. -- and permits
the display of more information than a VGA screen. Most of today's
software tools and Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) support the 1024x768
mode for enhanced image quality.

The world's fastest 486 processor, the DX4, powers the DisplayPac-SVGA. It
excels wherever mathematical calculations must be performed -- SPC/SQC
analysis, CAD/CAM, process control and trending applications -- and gets
information to the screen fast. Other 486DX processing speeds are
available for the DisplayPac-SVGA, if desired. The system also features
32M DRAM and 1.5M semiconductor disk for diskless operation, and offers an
on-board half-height floppy drive, a hard drive up to 500M, and a PCMCIA
slot. The entire unit draws only 38W.

For easy operator interface, a resistive touchscreen is optional with the
DisplayPac-SVGA. Our touchscreen implementation software tools include
drivers which allow the touchscreen to function as a mouse in either DOS
or Windows applications.

Expansion options for the DisplayPac-SVGA include up to six PC bus
expansion slots, industry-standard SBX expansion on-board the single board
computer, and the PCMCIA drive.

The DisplayPac-SVGA is $9861 (OEM quantity) for the 100 MHz 486DX4-based
system with 4M DRAM and the 11.8" color LCD. An even more compact unit
which substitutes a 10.4" SVGA LCD for the 11.8" display is $8963.
Delivery is stock to 30 days. For more information on the DisplayPac-SVGA
