Apple Enhances Popular Home Computing Line With Three New, Powerful,
All-in-One Computers

CAMPBELL, California--April 26, 1994--As part of its effort to bring
affordable multimedia solutions to a broad range of customers, Apple
Computer, Inc. has expanded its popular Macintosh Performa line of home
computers with three new computers featuring enhanced performance and
multimedia capabilities. The Performa 575, 577 and 578 are designed for
individuals who want a powerful, yet cost-effective multimedia personal
computer for the home.

Equipped with a faster microprocessor (the 33-megahertz Motorola 68LC040),
the Performa 570 series provides performance boosts of up to two and a
half that of the Performa 550. The new computers also come with Apple's
new internal double-speed, tray loading CD-ROM drive, a built-in 14-inch
Sony Trinitron color display and built-in stereo speakers, all of which
enhance the multimedia capabilities of the Performa product line.

"Multimedia has become increasingly important as computers combine
live-motion video, stereo sound, CD-ROM and popular learning software,"
said Kevin McDonald, marketing manager, Apple USA. "Apple designed the
Performa 570 computers as an integrated multimedia system offering
customers substantially greater performance at an affordable price
point."

PowerPC Upgrades and Special Education Pricing

To help customers upgrade to more powerful computers as needed, Apple also
announced it plans to provide PowerPC microprocessor upgrades for its
Macintosh Performa 500 series of computers. Upgrades will be available
for the Macintosh Performa 575, 577, 578, 560 and the 550.

In a separate announcement today (see release titled Macintosh Performa
Added to Apple Educator Advantage Program) Apple also announced that the
Performa 467, 475, 550 and the new Performa 575 will be available through
Apple's personal purchase program for educators called the Apple Educator
Advantage Program.

Pre-Installed Home Computing Software

The Macintosh Performa 570 series comes pre-configured with Apple's System
7.1P system software which includes Launcher, Finder hiding, folder

useful home computing applications, the Performa 570 series comes with
several pre-installed software packages such as ClarisWorks, Quicken 4,
Apple Special Edition of America Online, American Heritage Dictionary,
Macintosh-PC Exchange, Mario Teaches Typing, SuperMunchers and Spectre
Challenger. Four CD-ROM titles are also included, which provide
