SUNNYVALE, CALIF.--May 18, 1994--Weitek Corporation (NASDAQ: WWTK)
announced that IBM-Japan has chosen Weitek's Power 9100 and Video POWER
controllers as its graphics solution for PCI systems in IBM's new Personal
System/V line of desktop computers.

The IBM PSN is a new VL-bus desktop system. PCI (Peripheral Component
Interconnect) upgrade services are available to replace the VL-bus slots.
The PSN and services were introduced earlier this week in Japan. This new
family of products is targeted to business and personal users who are
working primarily in graphical user interface environments.

The POWER 9100 is a fully-integrated graphics accelerator which provides
64-bit VRAM bandwidth and integrated local bus interfaces to deliver the
highest level of PC graphics performance at reduced system costs. Video
POWER is a multimedia coprocessor for Video for Windows and other
environments, providing TV-quality full-screen video when coupled with the
9100.

"Weitek's technology is a perfect fit for the IBM PSN," stated Takeharu
Mizukoshi, manager of option planning for personal computers at IBM Japan.
"VideoPOWER is a product of such superior quality that IBM will offer it
as standard on all Power 9100-based PCI adapters."

"Usually, companies like IBM will mix and match products from different
vendors to meet the needs of their market," commented Tim Propeck, vice
president of sales and marketing at Weitek Corporation. "We are proud that
IBM has recognized the superiority of Weitek's graphics and video devices
and has chosen to offer them as standard on its PCI PSN machines."
