LINGO - A VERY HIGH LEVEL LANGUAGE

LINGO is a new VHLL (Very High Level Language) which makes it much
easier to develop software. Lingo is useful because:-

(1) It's very powerful, which means the tasks it achieves
with a single command would take many lines of code if
written in other languages. For example, menus, dialog
boxes and data tables can be accessed with a single
     function call.

This power makes Lingo much easier than existing solutions.
As an example you don't have to worry about the event
handling or memory allocation issues that arise under VB
     and C++.

(2) It's 100% portable between platforms so you don't have to
change a single line of code when migrating from DOS to
MS Windows. We can guarantee this portability because the
Lingo run-time library fully encapsulates the
differences between different hardware and operating
     systems.

(3) The combination of Power and Portability means for the
first time, the reusable software component becomes a
reality. Existing attempts at reuse based on C++ Class
libraries are unsatisfactory because of differing C++
dialects, hardware incompatibilities and the complex nature
     of the language.

If you implement a Class library using Lingo, the components
are portable. In addition these components validate their
own operations, guaranteeing their behavior on different
     platforms.

THE LINGO COMPILER

On the 2nd May, Lingo Language signed a licence agreement with Borland
International which allows us to distribute their command line ANSI C
and Pascal compilers with the Lingo package.

This means that Lingo developers do not need any compiler to be
preinstalled before using Lingo. There are no extra costs to developers,
as we are paying Borland's licence fees.

The licence allows developers to distribute EXE files created by the
Borland and Lingo compilers without paying any royalties to us or to
Borland. This means you can use Lingo for application development.

We are now working hard to integrate Lingo with these compilers, and the
v1.2 release will use the Pascal compiler. This will take us about two
months, so the scheduled v1.2 Lingo release date is early August.

MORE INFORMATION?

Lingo costs AUS $650 for the Entry Pack (about US $450) and AUS $1150
for the Standard Pack (about US $800).

The version 1.1 beta release is available for AUS $100 (US $70), which is
an evaluation copy with full documentation but without the code
generator modules (v1.1 appeared before we were allowed to distribute
the compilers). Your $100 is credited against any later purchase.
