Revolution in Sheet Metal Fabrication

May 3, 1994 -- Santa Ana, CA - A revolutionary new approach to contract
manufacturing of National Sales precision sheet metal parts and assemblies
will be exhibited by METALSOFT INC. for the first time at IMTS '94 booth
number 6004. This new approach connects existing machine tools together
electronically with a computerized command and control system that results
in greater productivity, higher quality, lower cost, and JIT deliveries.

"Islands of automation in the office are just as damaging as those on the
shop floor", says Carl Grosso, president of METALSOFT, INC. Automating,
controlling and integrating all aspects of the sheet metal fabrication
process eliminates islands of automation such as CAD/CAM and nesting as
well as N/C machine tools. All steps in the process must be integrated
into a single system beginning with quotations for customers to part
fabrication, to inspection, outside processing, assembly, shipping and
finally invoicing.

"Systems that integrate shop floor and office processes avoid mistakes and
eliminate redundant data entry", says Grosso. METALSOFT's system tracks 99
jobs and keeps records on everything from actual run times to inspection
data.

Management reports on all aspects of each job are available with a few
strokes on a personal computer. Computer Integrated Manufacturing &
Management System or CIMMS is the term coined by METALSOFT to describe
this new system.

CIMMS is a group of advanced technology building blocks and low cost
personal computer networks that bridge your N/C machine tools and other
processes in the shop with processes in the office. For example, bar code
terminals download N/C programs and upload job locations. Other building
blocks that may be integrated as needed are software for estimating &
quoting, automatic unfolding, CAD/CAM, nesting, SPC, vision inspection,
purchasing, inventory control, scheduling, job costing, labor tracking,
payroll, shipping & receiving, and accounting.

Building blocks of METALSOFT's CIMMS and N/C machine tools may be
implemented as they're needed. All makes and models of N/C machine tools
are supported. METALSOFT provides installation, training, service, and
implementation consulting in North America, Australia, New Zealand and the
UK.
