Apple Launches High Performance 17" Multiple Scan Display for Mainstream
Business Users

Full-Page Display is Power Macintosh and Windows Compatible

CUPERTINO, California--April 11, 1994--Apple Computer, Inc. today announced
the Apple Multiple Scan 17 Display, a 17- inch, full-page, color Trinitron
display that provides high screen performance at a competitive price.
With an Apple price of $1,069 (U.S.), the Apple Multiple Scan 17 Display
is scheduled for availability this month through Apple authorized
resellers worldwide. This new display joins the recently introduced Apple
Multiple Scan 20 Display in Apple's family of large screen displays.

The Apple Multiple Scan 17 Display is designed for use by business
professionals for mainstream office tasks including presentations,
spreadsheet analysis, graphic design, desktop publishing and word
processing.

"The Multiple Scan 17 Display offers business customers the benefits of
high performance display and the flexibility to use it on Macintosh or PC
computers," said Don Strickland, vice president of the Imaging and
Publishing Division, Apple Computer, Inc. "This display is a perfect
complement for Power Macintosh computers and anyone using desktop
productivity applications."

Product Features

The Multiple Scan 17 Display features a vertically flat Sony Trinitron
picture tube for sharp and bright images. It comes with anti glare and
antistatic screen coatings to reduce eye fatigue. High contrast glass
provides deeper, more brilliant colors. The display can be precisely
adjusted using easily accessible digital controls. Convenient desktop
ports offer headphone, microphone or mouse/keyboard access. For accurate
color work, the monitor can be adjusted for three different color
temperatures, 5000, 6500 and 9300 degrees Kelvin.

The new display's multiple scan capability lets users select the resolution
that is best for specific applications without restarting the computer.
At higher resolutions, users can see more information in greater detail.
This is ideal for page layout. At lower resolutions, users will be able
to see a magnified view with more colors which is ideal for multimedia or
presentations. The Multiple Scan 17 Display supports a low resolution of
640x480, a standard resolution of 832x624, and a high resolution of
1024x768 on the Macintosh , and from 640x480 up to 1280x1024 on the PC.

Apple is providing new Display Manager software with the display that
allows resolution switching on Macintosh computers without restart. The
Display Manager software includes dynamic support for multiple monitor
resolutions.

The Multiple Scan 17 Display is Energy Star compliant and is equipped with
Energy Saver software for Macintosh that senses periods of inactivity on
the Macintosh computer and allows the display to use less electricity.
The display is also compliant with Sweden's strict MPRII guidelines for
low electrical and magnetic emissions. The new display also supports
ColorSync , Apple's color matching technology, providing better overall
system calibration.

Compatibility

The Apple Multiple Scan 17 Display offers complete plug and play
compatibility with the Power Macintosh series, all Macintosh Quadra
computers, all Macintosh Centris computers, any system using the Macintosh
Display Card 24AC, and all IBM-PC compatible computers.

The Apple Multiple Scan 17 Display works with other Macintosh systems and
