Refs 7.41, a shareware academic reference database for Windows 3.1 was
released by the author on 9 May 1994 and is currently available in the
CICA Internet libraries.

Introduction

Refs is a program for creating browsing and maintaining academic reference
databases. The program uses the common ASCII Unix refer file format and
so is compatible with Unix refer, and also bibliography programs such as
WinRefer.

Refs can also import data files in other formats, in an easily expandable
way. Modules are supplied to read ISI and Medline files, and the help
file includes details for writing your own modules.

The program will work with Windows 3.1 or higher.

Changes since Refs 7.3:

* The import DLL syntax has been changed. DLLs written for
earlier versions of Refs will not work with this version. The
new interface should make it much easier for C/C++ programmers
to write DLLs for Refs, whereas before it was only really
possible in Pascal. MedLine and BIDS filters updated to new
  format.

* The BIDS filter should now work with BIDS-Embase searches
properly, and import their Abstracts. Minor changes to MedLine
DLL to work properly with some MedLine formats. It still
doesn't split the Journal field, I'm afraid.

* Changed bibliography syntax to distinguish between B, R and
  J fields.

* New item 'Copy formatted reference' added to editing dialog
Edit menu, which copies the entire reference to the clipboard
according to the current bibliography format setting.

* Refs now remembers the size you last selected for the editing
  dialog and uses it.

* Miscellaneous bug fixes (details in the help file)
