Ricoh Introduces Two 32-PPM Laser Printing Systems

RICOH LP-M32GP and RICOH LP-M32IP Offer Complete Mid-Volume Printing
Solutions

NEW YORK (April 19, 1994) -- Ricoh Corporation today announced two new
laser printing systems based on the award-winning Ricoh LP-M32 laser
printer engine.

The Ricoh LP-M32GP, a high speed printing solution for virtually any
application, incorporates a controller developed by Prime Option Inc. It
features multiple emulations using Agfa Intellifonts and includes
Postscript Level 1 emulation and PCL5/HPGL. It supports CCITT G3 and G4
(TIFF file) image decompression. Interface ports include RS232C, LocalTalk
and SCSI. 10 Base-2 (coax) and 10 Base-T (RJ-45) Ethernet will be
available in July. Auto emulation and hot port sensing are standard.
Windows and Macintosh drivers are available. Novell utilities/drivers will
be available in July.

The Ricoh LP-M32IP is the first mid-range printer designed specifically for
imaging or workstation applications. Employing a controller developed by
SRS Imaging, a subsidiary of SRS Technologies, it uses the processing
power of the host to convert (raster image process) image files. The
LP-M32IP provides fast throughput for scanner and other image intensive
applications. Its SCSI system features CCITT G3/G4 decompression, Windows
GDI, ASPI compliant SCSI software and multiple level SCSI support.
Postscript emulation and PCL5 are available as options.

"With the availability of these two controllers for the highly-regarded
LP-M32 printer engine, Ricoh now provides complete mid-range printing
solutions for OEM's, systems integrators and VARS," said Renee Thompson,
printer product manager, Peripheral Products Division. The LP-M32GP will
ship in May and the LP-M32IP is expected to ship in July.

The Ricoh M32 printer engine has won acclaim for crisp image output,
reliable operation and easy maintenance. Its 32-ppm (letter, A4) print
speed in both simplex and duplex modes prints high-volume jobs
consecutively. Users have a choice of 240/300 or 400 dpi resolution. With
an input capacity of 1,500-sheet (with optional large-capacity input tray)
and a large-capacity output tray holding up to 1,300 sheets, the M32
engine easily handles high volume printing jobs.
