SPORT ACCOLADE ANNOUNCES UNNECESSARY ROUGHNESS FOR THE SEGA GENESIS, IT
WILL KNOCK YOU RIGHT ON YOUR GRASS!

Category: Football Simulation
Availability and Price: $59.95, Sega Genesis
   (Available, October 1994)

SAN JOSE, Calif. - May 11, 1994--Sport Accolade, the brand name label for
Accolade's sports simulations, today announced Unnecessary Roughness for
the Sega Genesis. In an agreement with the National Football League
Players Association (NFLPA), this football simulation will incorporate the
names and statistics of more than 1000 NFLPA superstars battling it out on
the computer gridiron. This bone-crushing game will feature extra-large
3-D modeled players, rendered on Silicon Graphics workstations using
motion capture software to recreate the real human movements of football
players. Adding to the realism will be legendary Monday Night Football
sports announcer Al Michaels, calling the play-by-play commentary.
Unnecessary Roughness is scheduled to release in October at a suggested
retail price of $59.95.

Unnecessary Roughness is filled with intense moves and realistic animation
as players go head-to-head with real NFLPA pros including Emmitt Smith,
John Taylor, Barry Sanders, Reggie White, "Neon" Deion Sanders, and Junior
Seau. The game will feature fierce battles of outrageous tackles,
impossible one-handed catches, brutal head-butts, stumbling referees, high
fives, spins, hurdles, straight arms, flying helmets and flying bodies. Up
to four players can play at once using any multi-player adapter.

Twenty-eight pro teams and two all-star squads from the 1993-'94 season
compete in season, playoff, or exhibition mode. Season standings and
playoffs can be saved using the built-in Memory Chip. From the extensive
playbook provided, players can select from a variety of pre-designed plays
all based on real professional offensive and defensive schemes. Favorite
plays can be viewed again using the instant replay feature.

Unnecessary Roughness offers a variety of field views including horizontal,
vertical and a zoom mode for real in-your-face action. Compete indoors or
outdoors and on grass or artificial turf. Players also contend with
variable weather conditions such as rain, snow or wind, as well as three
difficulty modes: Rookie, Intermediate, and All-Pro.

This realistic football game is complete with the voice of Monday Night
Football sportscaster Al Michaels, who provides commentary throughout the
game. Michaels has been honored with many awards in his career, including
the coveted Emmy. His recognizable voice can also be heard in Sport
Accolade's popular HardBall III and Brett Hull Hockey, and soon in the
company's CD ROM game, All-Pro Video Football.

"Unnecessary Roughness has many exciting features, two of which I think
players will really enjoy," said George MacDonald, the producer for the
game. 'Using the 'High-Impact Button' players can make a game-breaking
play or tackle by exerting maximum effort. However, players should be
warned. You could be flagged for unnecessary roughness! One of the other
hot features is the Sport Accolade "Players of the Game," whereby the
computer will choose the most outstanding offensive and defensive players
in every game. It will also choose an MVP at the end of the season. I
believe once players become familiar with these features they will enjoy
them again and again."
