SD'94 EAST STRATEGY ENCOMPASSES CLIENT/SERVER DEVELOPMENT ISSUES

May 6, 1994 -- San Francisco, Calif. -- Miller Freeman's Software
Development Conference and Show Group (SDSG) today announced that it has
completed a strategic conference restructuring for its highly successful
SD East & West Conference & Exhibition (formerly Software
Development/Business Software Solutions). The strategy solidifies the
event's focus on delivering solutions for the spectrum of issues facing
today's software and application developers.

In the first of its strategic moves, SDSG has changed the name of its
conference for corporate application developers from Business Software
Solutions to Enterprise Application Development (EAD) to more accurately
reflect the conference content. With minimal changes to course offerings,
EAD will continue to provide tools and techniques training for IS
application developers looking to reengineer their mainframe talents for
the client/server environment.

As KoAnn Vikoren, Software Development Conference and Show Group Director,
notes, "Application developers are moving quickly toward developign
sophisticated client/server applications. They need practical information
to prepare and support their efforts to move to this new information
systems architecture. EAD will provide the training ground where IS
professionals can get crucial exposure to what is working in the real
workd that they can take back and apply to their business immediately."

In 5 tracks, EAD features industry practitioners and case studies
addressing the key issues for a successful migration to client/server from
less efficient legacy systems. These tracks include: Enabling Business
Process Reengineering, Client/Server Architecture & Databsae Design,
Downsizing & Integrating Legacy Systems, Improving Business Information
Access & Delivery, and Enterprise Application Support.

EAD complements the SDSG's flagship Software Development. The
widely-respected Software Development conference will continue to bring
first-rate technical education to developers using low-level tools and
advanced software development techniques. Tracks in the Software
Development conference include: Software Engineering BAsics, C/C++,
Programming for Windows, Cross Platform Development, Client/Server
Development, Object-Oriented Programming, GUI Design, Rapid Application
Development, and Future Platforms Today.

Rounding out the set of conference offerings are Managing Software
Development, a unique and critical component of the overall event which
addresses the needs of successful technical managers who oversee the
people and process of software development; and Globalizing Software, a
critical resource for the professional developer or technical manager who
must stay competitive in the global market by building localized software
for overseas markets.

These four powerful, practical, real-world conferences run concurrently
with the largest East Coast exhibition showcasing the spectrum of tools
for software and application developers. Leading vendors such as
Microsoft, Powersoft, Borland, Symantec, Novell, IBM, Digital, Intersolv,
Intel, Motorola, Watcom, KnowledgeWare, Visix, Neuron Data, Clarion and
hundreds more will demonstrate new development solutions. Technical
answers can be found as these vendors bring key technical personnel to
hear and implement what users need in future tools.

The event as a whole runs under the banners of SD East and SD West. SD'94
East will be held on October 3-7, 1994 at the Washington Convention Center
in Washington, D.C. SD'95 West is scheduled for February 13-17, 1995 at
the Moscone Conference in San Francisco, CA. For more information contact
