U.S. ROBOTICS ANNOUNCES 28.8 KBPS REMOTE ACCESS PRODUCTS TO SHIP IN MAY,
1994

Company to Exhibit 28.8 Kbps Remote Access at Networld/Interop, Las Vegas,
May 4-6

SKOKIE, Ill., -- May 2, 1994 -- U.S. Robotics, Inc., today announced 28.8
Kbps capabilities in its new Shared Access COM server and LAN modem 2.0.
The products, which provide 28.8 Kbps dial-in and dial-out LAN
communications capabilities, will be available in May, 1994.

The Shared Access COM server and LAN modem now support the V.Fast Class
protocol for 28.8 Kbps. Additionally, the products will be Flash ROM
upgradable to include future support for the ITU-T V.34 protocol for 28.8
Kbps. The Flash ROM upgrade will be a simple field upgrade, performed via
software download. This upgrade will be free.

"Speeds of 28.8 Kbps make remote access much more usable for telecommuters,
mobile salespeople and employees in remote offices," said Jonathan Zakin,
U.S. Robotics executive vice president. "Dial-up products supporting 28.8
Kbps also provide a fast, cost-effective option for network managers,
cutting down on telephone line costs and increasing the ability of their
users to access information quickly and effectively."

The Shared Access line supports LAN-to-LAN routing, remote control of a PC
on the LAN, remote node LAN access, dial-out and other capabilities.

The company's Networld/Interop exhibit will demonstrate how users can
couple a Shared Access LAN modem or COM server with a remote 28.8 Kbps
Courier modem to access information on the LAN, including e-mail, files,
databases and even documents faxed through the company's Shared Access FAX
server.

Shared Access LAN modem 2.0

The Shared Access LAN modem 2.0 is a two-port dial-up router, providing
dial-up LAN-to-LAN routing for IPX inter-network communications. It also
provides PPP support, for IP dial-in from popular applications such as
Novell's LAN Workplace and NetManage's Chameleon.

The product also supports remote node access, and includes Dynamic Access
Switching, for "on-the-fly" switching between remote node and remote
control during the same connection using one of many popular remote
control packages.

Shared Access COM server

The COM server provides a powerful, two-port 486-based open platform,
replacing the existing single-port, 386-based Communication Server 386.
The new open platform, not previously available in Shared Access products,
supports a variety of industry-recognized LAN communications software,
including remote control, mail routing and modem sharing products,
allowing customers to tailor the product to a variety of applications.

Upgrades to 28.8 Kbps will be available for existing users; customers
should contact U.S. Robotics for more information.
