IDEK SHIPS 21-INCH MONITOR, THE VISIONMASTER PRO 21

Unit Features Remote Controlled On-screen Programming and Optional 5 Year
Warranty

ATLANTA (May 23, 1994)--IDEK Iiyama North America today announced the
shipment of the VisionMaster Pro 21, the first 21-inch monitor to support
a remote controllable feature-set via on-screen programming. It combines
an increased range of graphics display compatibility with a tension mask
CRT (Trinitron-style) for brighter displays and Energy Star compliance.

"Large-screen users typically work at their displays from much greater
distances than 14-, 15- or even 17-inch monitor users, and they want to be
able to adjust their monitors to their exact viewing angle," said IDEK
president Chuck Roessler. "IDEK's remote control system with onscreen
programming provides the ability to achieve optimum performance. The user
can even adjust the tilt and swivel base with the remote control."

The VisionMaster Pro 21, also known as the MT-9121, is able to adjust 27
user controls via on-screen programming, much as most television sets are
adjusted today. The user can adjust distortion controls such as raster
rotation, pincushion and trapezoid (phase) control; color calibration to
match Pantone and device output color samples; white balance settings of
9300, 6500 and 5000 Kelvin -- the last of which is popular for desktop and
document publishing; horizontal static convergence control; and several
other display controls.

The new monitor is microprocessor-based, with automatic scanning control
capable of displaying all resolutions found in PCs, Macintoshes,
SPARCstations, workstations, plus compatibility with nearly all
high-resolution third-party graphics display cards. Horizontal scanning
frequency rates are among the widest found in today's monitors, ranging
from 23.5 to 90 kilohertz (KHz), providing some of the highest vertical
refresh rates possible. Maximum display resolution of the monitors is 1600
x 1280 at 70 hertz (Hz).

The VisionMaster Pro 21 features a 21-inch (20-inch viewable) Tension Mask
CRT that provides approximately nine additional square inches of display
area than conventional 20-inch Trinitron-style monitors. The monitor uses
the new 21-inch Diamondtron CRT with dynamic beam forming to proved
optimum focus center-to-corner with exceptional brightness and clarity.
The VisionMaster Pro series also has a video bandwidth of 200 MHz dot
clock, one of the highest found today on a 21-inch Trinitron monitor.

The MT-9121 is fully compliant with all U.S. and international standards
for low electromagnetic field emissions, including the stringent Swedish
MPR II standards. Using an infrared power-management feature, the
VisionMaster Pro 21 automatically powers down from 160 watts to 5 watts.
When restarted, the screen image returns instantly with the proper color
saturations. The IDEK system exceeds both the Energy Star and VESA Display
Power Management Systems (DPMS) standards, providing power management for
both DPMS and non-DPMS graphics cards and systems, resulting in superior
compatibility.

"While most Energy Star monitors require DPMS graphics cards to provide
power management, the IDEK Power Management System does not require a
DPMS-compliant system, and will operate with all current systems and
platforms," said Roessler. "This offers a significant savings for all
users. The power management system is also programmable in intervals of 5,
15, 30, 45, 60 minutes or disabled if desired."

Availability and Warranty

The VisionMaster Pro 21 comes with a standard 3-year warranty or optional
5-year warranty covering all parts and labor when purchased from an
authorized dealer. The monitor will be available from dealers in June
1994. Suggested retail price is $2,295 and street prices are likely to be
similar.

IDEK 21 -inch monitors are used for advanced graphics display applications,
including computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided engineering (CAE),
geographic information systems (GIS), document publishing, graphics
design, industrial control and presentations. For more information,
